Tories Lose Chesham and Amersham

Depends on your interpretation of a Tory. If its anybody but somebody who supports hard left policies then I agree its not a day to celebrate a Tory losing.
Not going to argue with you here fella because you're a nice bloke. I'll always be pleased when the Tories lose but I think that we maybe differ in our definition of 'hard left'. Vaguely left would be nice. We don't have that from labour or the libs at the moment in my opinion. We're becoming America. Vote for this right wing turd or that right wing turd or the other right wing turd. What's the point? That Overton window being naughty again. I don't consider myself 'hard left' at all. Just left. And none of the mainstream parties represent me right now.

I am a nice fella and you are too. I think Johnson is an abomination and so anything - even as small as this - is a victory if it gives him a bloody nose.

More worrying, Labour into fourth place. The libdems collapsed at the last election so suprised to see them win. Labours fortunes seem to be mirroring Boro’s, big in the nineties early 2000’s, and slowly fallen away since, wonder who’ll be back first.

Labour went from 11k to 622.. obvious where LD vote came from..

HS2 running through the area.. the majority of the country are against this white elephant project.. parties should make it campaign policy.. vote winner..

Terrible night for the blues.. let's hope that continues this evening.. come on England!!

The Tories have received a proper kicking here. Labour will retain Batley and Spen. You should be worried about your beloved Tory party.

It actually shows that there is dissatisfaction with the Tory government, but unlike in the US we don't yet have a progressive alliance. Labour always assume they lead this alliance, but only need to look at socialist parties in Europe to see that's not the case.

Yeah let's pretend that labour voters switching to kick the tory out is the real story, not the tories losing one of the safest seats in the country.
The Tories are losing votes in the blue shires, we saw that at recent local elections.

That's an interesting point that you raise at the end. I'm the opposite, I'm definitely right of centre. TBH I don't even think the current Tory party is hard right it's just anti democracy. As such I am also politically homeless. I'd usually lean towards the Tories but can't at all in their current, autocratic and corrupt guise.

The thing is, they have such a huge majority at the moment and we have such a terrible political system in FPTP that you HAVE to vote tactically. The Labour supporters in Amersham clearly knew they had no chance of getting in so had to switch to LibDem. I hope the LibDem supporters return the favour in batley and open to ensure a labour victory there.

We can discuss left and right and the merits of a particular party at a later date, right now the key thing is trying to stop this country becoming a backwards little autocratic banana republic and the main way of doing that (assuming we don't reverse brexit yet) is hammering the people that are turning the laws of the land against the people.

It’s all part of the growing vote swap campaign

I just seen the headlines, I presumed the switch was from Tory voters.
