Tories battered

That's not what she's saying though is it? I don't agree with her, but her argument is that the army could run services to get workers like doctors and nurses to work while the strikes are ongoing.

That's a world away from "turning the army on law abiding UK citizens". You make it sound like she's urging them to open fire on the picket lines.

Apparently the army's railway squadrons were disbanded in 2012. When the Lib Dems were in government. So I don't think it would work really would it?

Even if you think it would work, it's an appalling position for a supposed "liberal". The armed forces are meant to be there for the security of the country. Not to be union busters on behalf of bosses handing out mass redundancies.

That really doesn't sit well with me. You're happy with setting rhe army on its own people? That's not something I would endorse
There's no setting the army on anyone; the comment she made was to help key workers get to where they needed to be, not getting involved with the strike itself; which as I said earlier, I fully approve of them striking.

It doesn't turn them into scabs.

It sort of does. It lessons the impact of the strikes. Taking yet more power away from the working man.

I’d say a scab wilfully chooses to cross the picket line. The army are under direct orders. Obviously they have personal agency but that would be a very difficult choice to make. An example of the nuanced grey areas that often cause friction on here.

It doesn't really matter
What you've got to say
They never F***ing listen
To you any way
So **** the system
You can bring it down
So **** the system
We can bring it down
Future is chaos and anarchy
The misery continues
It's the government way
So **** the system
You can bring it down
So **** the system
Chaos will bring it down
Get up and stand up
And fight back now
They didn't want to listen
But they'll listen now
So **** the system
You can bring it down
So **** the system
We can bring it down
Thousands of homeless
And more each day
The misery continues
It's the government way
**** the government
So **** the system
You can bring it down
So **** the system
Chaos will bring it down!

During the fire service strike of 1977, me , and other work collegues, would do shifts patrolling the factory (a medium sized printers) during the night when no production shifts were in place.
Essentially, if a fire had broke out we would have been required to contact the "Green Godesses" - basically it was the army and associated armed forces - nobody ever thought it was turning the army on its own people
