Tories battered

In news that will shock nobody Boris Johnson is in Rwanda at the moment and out of the country for the next 8 days, not that it makes any difference as he honestly believes he's beyond censure and the line that governments lose mid-term elections has already been trotted out, with the exception of Hartlepool every by, mayoral and local government election has seen a large drop in Conservative vote share, Johnson no longer retains appeal as a mass vote winner and is, on results, proving to be an electoral liability, all the misgivings that people had about his leadership have come true with bells on, there are still some deluded diehards who defend him with perceived or reflected successes but when you scratch the surface the reality of his Brexit deal, vaccine rollout and Ukraine isn't quite as it seems, the Brexit deal he oversaw is riddled with loopholes and oversights that mean he's considering reneging on promises that were vital on getting 'Brexit Done', the vaccine rollout was vital due to a botched track and trace system which necessitated a quick rollout due to the failure of the £37 billion Johnson's flagship TAT programme which seems to have been conveniently brushed under the carpet and in the Ukraine we've taken 82k refugees which is great until you compare it to the 137k that Italy have taken or the 380k in Czechia and the 780k who have relocated to Germany.

Some valid points in the longest sentence I've ever read.

I think this makes it even sillier that those MPs didn’t wait until these by-elections before calling for a vote of no-confidence. That’s not hindsight because I said this before the event.

First rule of politics; you need to be able to count.

I think the ld will make it a condition of a coalition

The conservatives have laid bare and made more obvious who they are. They are here for their rich mates and once out of power they can’t be allowed to have majority again
They made a referendum a condition of their coalition with the tories. But they couldn't stop the tories (along with Labour) campaigning against it. There wasn't much support for it on here, either, as I recall.

I'm hoping that we get a "Tory Out" pact at the GE. And that has to be predicated on overdue Electoral Reform ideally to full PR (not the "Transferrable Vote" bodge that was offered last time) and abolition of the Lords and replace with an elected chamber of some sort (perhaps using the elected mayors?)

PR would prevent a repeat of veering between two different visions of the way this country should be. Yes we would probably see representatives of Far Left and Far Right in Parliament but no abuse of power by a government like the Tories have these last 12 years.
