My first game was in 1969 and been a regular ever since..My top 3 games may be for emotional reasons or just it was a great day out ...some glaring games not noted - Cup Finals and Semis - the below shave these

1. 2006 . v Steaua - never experienced such an atmosphere after trailing 3-0 after 30 mins....what a comeback and Massimos diving header must be one of the goals of all time at the Riverside.....only a league cup match against Liverpool - the Baker Match - only comes near the atmosphere.

2. 1970 v QPR - the Mc Ilmoyle match - 2 down inside 5 mins ..... then Hughie got into gear and murdered the QPR , scoring 2 , laying goals on for Big John to score 3 . His heading ability was a memory I will never forget....the famous Hughie hang. - Winning 6-2 ...Along with the West ham cup match ( Downing diving header) and the final game v Luton my fav Ayresome matches of which there were many great cup nights especially the Zenith cup run

3. 1992 v Wolves - Promotion win at Wolves - Rookie keeper in Ian Ironside and a dodgy defence - I didnt hold out much hope as we took our seats - we were in a freebie from BASF paints and in the Wolves fans. Very very intimidating atmosphere but Gittens and Wilko scored the 2 goals - Pollock was top form that day --- Sure ironside must have s***ing himself

yeah took an hour to sift through the memory and make notes - the Boksic freekick against newcastle at st james came to mind - just for that goal and the stunned silence of the mags.....rest of the game was poor tho

Boro V Liverpool League Cup Semi Final 1998. It was electric in the stadium that evening.
Boro V Sheff Utd 6-0 with a Ripley Hattrick.
Man Utd V Boro League Cup Semi 1991.. so close and a great atmosphere. One of the only times My Grandad, Dad, younger brother and I attended a game together.

#1 has to be Steaua. Nothing comes remotely close.

Not sure about the other two. Off the top of my head, games like Basel, Brighton promotion, Reading last min winner in promotion campaign, Man Utd 4-1, Swindon 6-0, Liverpool 2-0 in cup, are all worthy mentions.

Then away games such as Roma away, Bolton cup final, Man Utd away 3-2.

Some stand out games like the Villa ZDS semi final, Bradford in the playoffs, Wolves promotion, the QF and SF in the Euro cup, Man city in the cup, even WBA a few weeks ago was a great game and atmosphere.

Three, l'll go for Bradford, Villa and . . . . equal third all the others

Villa ZDS, Carling Cup Final 2004, Brighton promotion game

Although, if it were possible to travel back in time, I'd pick the 2-0 Chelsea first game at the Riverside as the day was just pure excitement from start to finish. We'll never experience such a day again in my lifetime.

Banik Ostrava - "Boro-European Tour". Not a brilliant game, but a landmark in our history.

Stau - what a comeback

4-1 against the Geordies. We stayed up. They didnt get promotion. Superb display by Baird that day.

1. Carling cup final v Bolton.
2. Eindhoven . I still cant believe we got to a European final.
3. Burnley league cup 1/4 final 1975/76 season. Huge conga lines dancing around outside of the stadium. The first time we ever got to the semi final of any competition .Our support was unbelievable that night.

1) Carling Cup Final
2) Steau
3) Brighton promotion game

Honourable mentions for the Basel game and a 4-0 win at Blackburn, when Jimmy scored a hattrick.

For pure emotion...

v Bolton (League Cup Final)
v Steau (UEFA Semi)
v Basle (UEFA QF)

Honorable mentions...

v Everton Away (FA Cup 1-1) 1988
v Everton Home (FA Cup Replay 2-2) 1988
v Brighton (Promotion decider)

one of my favourite most recent ones was 2015, Derby away on St Patrick’s day. Bamford scored in a 0-1 victory. Loved it.
Took a week to get my voice back!

love reading these , so many great experiences.....not many from the 70s, 80s like....maybe younger crew on this site or just memories fade......

The Carling Cup Final
Villa Away in the ZDS, lovely weather that night..
Stamford Bridge - relegating Chelsea
Roma
Steau
Doncaster away last match of 87 season.
Liverpool away in semi final
Man City 8-1

More than three I know, would have to go for the cup final, Villa away and Steau for the what they each meant at the time

1st one is very easy for me, but it’s very hard for the other 2

Boro 4 Newcastle 1, in 1990 it was my first Eve game, I was 6.

the Boro Roma home game.

the promotion game at with Brighton a couple

One would be getting promoted at Chelsea in 1988. An atmosphere of complete hate t overcome. It was 2 promotions on the trot. It was certainly "no pasaran" that day.

Steua, Chelsea in the playoffs, Roma away.

Honourable mentions to many great performances at Old Trafford, 2nd leg of playoffs vs Bradford, the European clincher at the Etihad, promotion party at Donny and many others.

V Newcastle in 90. Just felt so good.
V Villa in ZDS. Was training at Catterick at the time but skived off something or other. Wonder why I failed that course!
V Arsenal in the FA Cup 85? Mick Baxter header, straight at me in the holgate
