Tony Slattery

Sat directly behind him at a show at the Edinburgh Fringe last year. I hardly recognised him until my partner drew my attention to him. I thought it was Sir David Jason at first!

It'll be an interesting, if not altogether comfortable, view.

I did jury service last year on an historical child sex abuse case. The judge prefaced it by talking to us about these types of cases. He said everyone is aware of the issue these days but what isn't widely perceived is just how even mild cases can absolutely ruin people's lives in a way they never get over. Seems Tony S may be one who didn't. Very sad.

I'm sure this cropped up a few weeks ago. My grasp of celebs names is pathetic so it was only after reading link for tony Slattery today that it dawned on me that I'd read the interview before!

Yes the initial interview and big 'reveal' about his problems was last year, after which there was a massive outpouring of support and affection for him.

Another tragic story - he said he was raped by priest at 8 years old. I don't think even his long term partner knew the full story. This severe trauma has obviously been eating away at him nearly all his life and has played a part in his serious mental health problems as an adult.

Think that's a bit harsh regarding Stephen Fry,pretty sure I read somewhere he had helped pay for his treatment, I thought he came across as someone who cared.

Got round to it tonight.
It was a tough watch with touches of beauty. I found the discussion on his demons alongside the knowledge that 1 in 4 go through similar - upsetting.
Great to see the occasional nod to his cheeky comedic talent (mini bar and mopping the floor).
The love and understanding of his partner Mark was wonderfully inspiring.

The Stephen Fry bit left me a little confused. I think I’ve read that Stephen, Sessions, Thomson et al disengaged with him after his fall from grace (maybe for obvious reasons).
To re engage for this (if that was the case) didn’t sit well with me.

I remember those early years fondly and hope TS finds peace of mind to enhance his loving relationship.
