Tony Pulis

I remember a 3-2 win at west brom where we played some great stuff - genuinely thought we could push for the top 2 after that. We really should've finished in the play offs that season but I'm not sure why people disliked Pulis so much but then held Warnock in such high esteem.
Warnock did the job Pulis should have done

Pulis liked to tell us he solves the clubs financial issues when in reality he overspend on some awful players and sold our most valuable player for nothing, he put the club back years on and off the pitch.

Warnock wasn’t great but he really did work with a very tight budget and actually improved a fair few members of the squad while getting rid of the high earners and keeping us competitive

Because Warnock didn't get rid of Bamford and that was a crime.

Spot on. TP made out like he wasn't a chequebook manager and would get rid of the big time Charlies but he did no such thing, and blew money on average players.

Tony always looked after Tony.

I did think he stablised the club after the Monk and relegation before that.

I was disappointed how he helped push Bamford out and did not spot the potential in Harrison.
Stabilised the club? I’m not a fan of how much credit he is given for.. selling really good players for a fair price and over paying for average players.

Playing Adama Traore in the Championship.. hardly a master stroke and managing to achieve the exact same results as Garry Monk.. I just don’t get it.

Awful football and a complete blagger imo

Warnock did worse than pullis tho, he kept us up, but after that we only participated

Pulis spent millions and had one of the best players in the league at the time. Of course he did better in terms of where we finished

To be fair, he was only able to get rid of the high earners because their contracts ended.
Though he did score some brownie points when he announced to the world that he told Gestede to go home when he refused to commit himself to a few games after his contract ended.
Gestede actually was willing to play but wanted assurances from the club that if he got injured in those extra 8 games beyond his contract they would still pay him for 6 months.

He had a squad that should have finished much higher. Best keeper in the league, best winger, a very strong centre back pairing, future England striker, the spine of squad that had gone up two seasons earlier, not forgetting super Jonny Howson!

Yes Garry Monk $punked his load on some poor players, but Pulis used a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

well he knew fine well that he wasn't getting a contract extension lol, he will of known that at either the start of the season or january, so knew that option would be shot down immediately and just said it to save face

can't help to think that he may of cost himself another run in the championship or league one with how he conducted himself.
warnock seemed keen on him too so think he would of played to his strengths

probably for the best as gustede probs would of took us down lmao

No way! Warnock kept us up, rebuilt on a shoestring, brought back the love, brought the positivity back.. Warnock did an unbelievable job. On par with Mowbray interms if man management and astute transfers and results wise he was like for like with Karanka… until we dropped off at the end due to injuries to our back four.

The knives were out for him in the summer, internet trolls and we brought in another Garry Monk dressing himself up as Tony Pulis.

For me Neil Warnock represents the very best of our managers and Tony Pulis the very worst.

he kept us up, but we weren't even going to flirt with the play offs under him, i enjoyed his time here but he didn't really do much on the season and half he had after he saved us. can blame injuries but don't most teams get them as well and the squad you have has to deal with them, far from being like karanka who actually got us promoted , warnock had a good shot but was clearly behind the times like pullis too.

felt we let him go at the right time and wilder did alot better with the same squad , even though he was never the same after the burnley episode

Karanka got loaded with high end transfers to achieve promotion.. TWICE!

Warnock patched up a relegation squad with next to nothing 10th place was a minor miracle from such a disadvantage. We gambled on players in January (and have used that same model ever since) the squad was too thin and we suffered with the cut price gambles we made.

10th was acceptable..

hardly doing better than others even if they had the benefit of money, but can't deny wilder used his players and got far more out of them

He used Dijksteel, Fry, McNair & Bola when they were fit.. which was as soon as he took the job.
