On Ridge - lecturing on how to prevent loss of life! How many lives is he responsible for losing.

secondly Ridge criticising Give for not answering with a date as to when the lockdown will be over - he should have just said how long is a piece of string. I hate this modern media approach just brow beating in order to get a click bait headline.

It’s like the modern social media approach using ‘Tony Blair’ as a click bait post.
And, the old nugget - if someone has screwed up on 1 thing they are to be automatically ignored on anything else.

As for the question on lockdown - Johnson mentioned 3 weeks at the start. He did that for a reason (maybe a good one) but he knew the odds were stacked against that. It’s not unreasonable to try and find out how long this is going to go on. After all they are getting expert advice.

He's supporting Jeremy Hunt in a call for a massive increase in testing. The sooner we do what we should have done at the beginning the better. Quote from Hunt:
Hunt said mass testing gave authorities greater clarity in identifying and containing potential outbreaks. Where you find it, you can isolate and contain it. And where you don’t, vital services continue to function. With mass testing, accompanied by rigorous tracing of every person a Covid-19 patient has been in touch with, you can break the chain of transmission.

And there we have the headline on sky news at 10am

“no limit on the lockdown - gvt REFUSES to say when it will be lifted”

this Ridge girl should be embarrassed for playing this game, anybody with any ounce of common sense knows it is impossible to give a date regardless of whether the person has access to all the scientists and so on . It’s just guess work!

Fat cat how many was Churchill responsible for? Should we have attacked Germany in 1936? Leaders make decisions at a level I cannot comprehend , why not ask women in Iraq if they would rather be pre Hussain.

She gave Blair an opportunity to criticise the Government sensing a headline. He didn't play ball so fair play to him.
The world is facing a crisis and therefore SKY sought the views of a former PM and recognised statesman on the world stage so bringing up Iraq again is hardly helpful.

FatCat I haven't agreed with you very much over the topic of the covid outbreak, but you are quite right here. We do not know, nor can we at this time. It is, as you say, guesswork.

Sky news
Sophy Ridge on Sunday LIVE: 'Length of lockdown is not fixed – it depends on our behaviour', says Gove

Sounds reasonable.

We never went there to protect women from Hussain. We went the for weapons of mass destruction. We found......none.
Blair and Dubya Bush should be in the Hague, not on TV.
I despise the man.

Ironic there FatCat given your love of the Tories - how many lives are they responsible for losing with their ideological austerity?

"The old nugget - Blair screwed up on one thing" .
Perhaps one hundred or even one thousand things if you a one of the families who lost someone because of that man's efforts to win votes with lives.

Careful WG small town will be along accusing you of whataboutery. Well he does if it’s a Tory bashing thread and anyone mentions labour

For clarity the point I’m trying to make
If someone makes a bad/dishonest decision (whatever the consequences)
It is pretty small minded to then take a view they should not be heard on anything ever.

i guess it depends how monumental a screw up it was , how dishonest he was about it. No shame this guy!

Some of us have already had letters telling us not to leave the house for 12 weeks. How long before that's extended to the majority?

As for the OPs criticism, it's the type of thing that's being going on for years, Corbyn was subject to much of it during the last couple of years.
