Tonight's Match

Right.
Whoever you blame for our current predicament Steve Gibson Chris Wilder Kieran Scott Keith Lamb Gary O'Neil
It is vital you get behind whatever team or formation Leo puts out.
This is our first step back up the league and we as fans have to have a positive attitude and show that to the players from the start.
I do blame Chris Wilder 100% for our current predicament, perhaps some folks didn’t notice it.. what was his deal with Dael? He proper turned on him! From the boyo at Spurs and Man Utd, finishing 77th in the table to a player he publicly stated he wouldn’t be starting! He did the same with Dijksteel and again with Forss & Hoppe.. why on earth would he say he was getting abuse from the fans when he wasn’t?

The thing is Boro fans LOVE the boro and we will as ever get right behind Leo and the team tonight!

Re dael I honestly expected him to be sold this window as you say he seemed to target snd marginalised his position let’s face he all but replaced him, it was only Lenihan injury that prob saved him.

Wilder weakened the team with his ideas, Lenihan for Fry... Clarke for Bola..... and Mowatt for anyone in midfield... all his choices.

Im not saying Lenihan is a bad player, but Fry should be our central defender.

Tonight would have been a perfect opportunity for a ticket deal.

I think it was more than that as dael looked to to be heading out the door.

I don't see any reason why you would think that? Wilder never said he was available for sale (actually said he's very highly thought of here), Dael never put in a transfer request or said publicly he wanted to leave.

You can't assume or surmise someone is out the door because they're not on the pitch.

We’ll probably absolutely hammer Birmingham tonight and then revert to type at Millwall on Saturday. I’m looking forward to tonight’s game but there’s a bit of me that feels aggrieved at some of these players for getting yet another Boro manager sacked. I appreciate people will point to Burnley and Bournemouth with Wilder, but the bottom line is that some of these lads stopped doing the basics at times. Hence all those dropped points.

If you’re not going to play for the manager then at least play for the shirt, for your teammates, for your wages. Where’s the pride in not tracking your man or defending your goal properly? It’s no good doing it at a time of your choosing, when a new manager is in charge. You should be doing it every week instead of hiding. I’m really against the idea that it’s all Wilder’s fault, or Scott, or Gibson. Some of these players get off remarkably lightly IMO.

I don't disagree with that entirely...

But I think some of Wilders tactical choices did kind of stitch up the players.

He got the left footed CB he wanted in Clarke, BUT he doesn't look quite as comfortable moving up in to midfield as McNair did from that position. To my mind, Wilder should then either be telling Clarke not to get forward so much or just play McNair. It's brainless to just press on with the same CBs forward strategy anyway and then complain about getting countered down that side for the goal.

And that's just one issue. But they're all over the team tbh. Slating Fry for clearing the lines, then a few weeks later Howsons trying to dribble out of trouble infront of our box and it leads to a goal against. Having a go at Dijksteel for not getting enough yellow cards. Crooks has obviously been told not to get forward as much this season - why? Our top scorer last year and he's having to hang back. All those games with one up front.

Yeah maybe some of the players could have done this or that differently and it might have improved results but it must have been really difficult playing to Wilders contradictory instructions these last few months.

I guess we’ll see tonight as I do think we’ll see a response.

Well I don’t entirely disagree with you, but I would say that there’s no way he’s telling them to start pumping it in the general direction of Muniz, or to consistently take sh*t throw-ins and corners, or not pick up their man.

I agree Wilder is culpable too. They all are. We’re 22nd in the second tier and managerless. It’s a collective failing.

I’m just reading a lot about how Wilder, Scott, Bausor and Gibson have caused this mess, but not so much on the players who either couldn’t be arsed to do the basics or made a conscious decision to try and force the chairman’s hand.

They’re all culpable.

It does annoy me that players are able to walk away blame free when, in reality, they're the ones on the pitch.

Of course, the leader takes the bullet, but there's a core of players in this group that have seen a number of very successful managers, with CVs littered with promotions, take the flak. It's about time some of them started taking some responsibility.

The new players particularly.

Show some pride, make an impression. They’ve been universally awful except for the two lads on loan.

Mowatt has been incredibly underwhelming. Clarke looks lost, Smith is a red card waiting to happen. Lenihan was showing signs but then got injured. I’ve actually been disappointed with Steffen as well TBH. Not sure why Forss and Hoppe are at the club.

Giles and Muniz have been very good. Jones gets stuck but he’s our most productive player.

McNair, Dijksteel, Fry, Howson, Crooks, save for a few bits here and there, they’ve been generally below par. Some of them are onto a fifth manager now. You’d think the club might wonder why that is and maybe look at easing some of them out instead of this constant root and branch reform of the management and coaching staff.
