Tommy Smith

Played right mid by all accounts last year, played quite a fair bit too, so back up/competition for Jones. I wouldn't be averse to him. Free signing too, love that, there's loads of players out there we don't need to be forking out for squad players like we have in the past!

I forgot about Fisher. I can only imagine he will move on if he comes in. A bit like Lumley and only a year left so maybe not see him again.

Smith played over 30 times for Stoke last season. So I'm not sure what's 'turd' about that😂

I imagine a bit like the Mcgoldrick link as in a season or 2 back up player.

Can't say I really know much about Tommy Smith to comment either way, but Lumley played over 30 times for us last season and he was woeful.
Appearances aren't necessarily an indication of quality.

Yeah, but with a keeper you're kind of stuck with them. Not really a like for like comparison.

He was one of the players namechecked by Wilder when he was listing the decent players Stoke had prior to our game with them. Not surprised at the link.

Connolly played 18 times for us in half a season and Lumley played 34. Appearance numbers don't rule people out from being turd.

Close mate is a Stokie and very fair. They signed him from Huddersfield and expected a cracking player and a leader. They got neither.
He played a lot because they had a lot of injuries and player issues at Stoke last season.
Why would they be ok to let him walk away if he was of use. They are not exactly paupers nor expecting not to be up there this season.

Well as a bit part player covering injuries seemingly, who is vvank and well below their standards, would have been our second highest assister on last seasons numbers.

If having him in the quad on a reasonable contract means we can rest Jones a bit when he's flagging, without having to move Howson or Dijksteel etc. out of their strongest positions to cover him then I can't see it being a negative overall.

How many appearances did Peltier, Taylor and Bamba rack up last year? We need to cover for them leaving.
