Togetherness of this team

We’re going up. I’ve said it since day one. I won’t hoof my thread because it’s tedious, I’ll do it in a few weeks, when we crack the top two, but I’ve just felt confident we’d soar with Carrick coaching these players. It was about getting the first win and building confidence and then playing your football without fear, naturally, and believing in yourself and your teammates.

We are flying and we are going higher IMO.

I remember you saying 5th…..

I said 8th. Bloody pessimist.

There were at least 2 posters on the thread I’m thinking of who said we were definitely going down. 😁

It was a mistake by Carrick to throw the new players straight in at the start of the season.

He realised this and changed it, and we haven't looked back since.

If he'd done it the other way around right at the start of the season, and gone with the more experienced players, who knows how high up in the division we would be right now. We seem to have a fantastic squad.

Yep this is it.

Rogers, Silvera etc were always going to be “projects” but we treated them like big name arrivals. It was a mistake but he very quickly learned and now those very same players are also benefitting.

When you see your goalkeeper running the length of the pitch to celebrate our second goal
you know there’s a great spirit in that squad.

Yes incredible turnaround for the team but also in the individual performances. Not only in playing together but also in their individual confidence on the pitch. Some must have been a bit star struck in coming into the EFL Championship for the first time, especially with the expectations on them. It's really clicked on both levels and that's brilliant to see.

You have to remember that the likes of Howson, Smith, Dijksteel, McGree, Coburn and even Chuba were not fully fit at the start of the season and we were struggling at left full back. Also Greenwood and O’Brien didn’t come in until August 31st. It was always going to be tough early on.

Will you stop talking sense Samba, we'll have none of that on this forum thanks. No it was all because our experts know more than Carrick and it was only after he read their expert comments on this board that he decided to change things and here we are.
You can, of course, credit all those people who told Carrick that those players were out of their depths for this dramatic turnaround. Nothing to do with those valid points you raise mate, so keep your logical comments to yourself please!

True but he still chose to play Rogers up front, when he could have played Forss instead.

Rogers and Silvera both started against Coventry and Huddersfield.

I feel he would have been better off going with Forss up front, Jones and McGree out wide and Crooks no10 in those opening games.
