Today I've been a vegetarian

The usual porridge and fruit for breakfast.
Nothing in the house for lunch, so ended up having avocado and tomato on toast.
Dinner was meant to be turkey Bolognese, no turkey mince in the shop so I had a rush of blood and bought some "plant based" mince instead, turned out quite nice, which was a pleasant surprise.

I can't remember another day in my life when I had no meat, will I be OK or do I need to go and panic buy some pork scratchings 😮

I’ve been ok for 33 years, so I think you’ll survive 😉

I like meat, particularly lamb, but I think there are certain dishes that lend themselves to a veggie option as well as meat. I love a duck red curry but it's still good with veg. Massamam currys are even better cos there's already potato and peanuts in there.

I'm really looking forward to lab-cultured meat to arrive in the shops (at a decent price)

I reckon in 50 years eating real animals will be seen as old-fashioned and enjoyed only by those who want to, or who can afford it

Attention FMTTM admin: please put this post into a digital time capsule for 50 years or so :sneaky:

Last ate meat on boxing day 2019 and still loving the veggie life - still a fat bar steward like!

If I lived on my own and didn't have to inconvenience my wife I'd be vegan tbh, "real" cheese is still a vice.

I'm tempted to go down the flexitarian path, I'm thinking it'll be healthier, wouldn't be able to quit meat completely, it's too nice. I already limit red meat to once or twice a week.

I've only just got over buying a 'smokey bacon and mushroom ' pizza.....

Slammed it in the oven. I had my first bite and thought 'that's weird'. I checked the date and fine (although frozen so it should be).

Only then did I read on the box that it's was a fecking vegan 'smokey bacon and mushroom' pizza.

Please don't call in Smokey bacon and mushroom if it's not😂.

That was by brief unintentional dip into being a Vegan lol

Fake bacon is delicious, vegan cheese on a pizza however isn't for me - doesn't melt the same (goes creamy) and has an odd sweet taste. Think it's because most of them are made from coconut or cashews.

We quite often go a few days meat free, but i can't get on board with meat substitutes. Cooking different types of meals is the wa forward rather than trying to replicate meat based dishes.. We use a lot of lentils and chickpeas etc.

I would say cheese is one of the few things no one has mastered a decent substitute for.

Each morning for me, tea, toast followed by a bowl of porridge, blueberries & banana, lush, & a small drink of cider vinegar, honey in hot water

Trying the same thing, only eating red meat when out for a meal and sticking to white meat, fish day to day. Proving to be expensive and a bit bland but definitely feel better for it

I was vegetarian for 20 odd years ("odd" as in roughly not unusual). I had to start eating meat again on medical advice. I don't think I'll ever go back. The only meat I could genuinely say I missed in that time was rabbit. I still love it now.

Porridge, fruit and honey for breakfast today and then thanks to my new flexitarian lifestyle I was able enjoy a bacon, sausage and fried egg breakfast in a bun for lunch 😛

Medical Advice rkangel? Can you expand on that (or would you rather not?).
Just asking out of curiosity and selfishness really. I've been Vegan for three years, I don't feel that much better although it is a lot of vegan burgers, pizzas etc so I don't really expect to.

It transpired that my body wasn't producing 3 amino acids and that stopped me digesting food properly. The 2 best sources for the amino acids were red meat and haribo. As a diabetic the second option was out, so I dived back into meat while in France. It led to blood filled dreams, but feeling better.
