After disposing of Bradford the day previous in a game the fans who were lucky to attend will never forget, or want to
Losing 2-1 from the 1st leg, with Trevor Senior scoring the all important away goal, on the 15th & setting up a mouth watering 2nd leg on the 18th, another unforgettable season, an unforgettable match

Nail biting 90 minutes with a wonder strike from the tightest of angles from mister reliable, Bernie, to bring the scores level on the night, with no more goals coming extra time was to be played & then Colin Cooper lobs a crossfield ball in to the box, people say they can put the ball on a sixpence, Colin Cooper put the ball on a toilet roll, Gary 'shuffle' Hamilton collects the ball & smashes it in to the holgate net to put the mighty Boro in front in the overall tie & setting us up to face Chelsea who finished in the playoff losers spot in the 1st division & who put out Blackburn in the other playoff game

I watched both the Bradford matches with a mate of mine who is a Bradford fan. I took him in the chicken run for the second leg. Bradford had a good team with Hendrie, McCall and co and they fancied their chances against us but Hamilton had the last word. I had to keep a lid on my celebrations for obvious reasons but even in his disappointment my mate appreciated the Ayresome atmosphere that famous night and has been back to Teesside plenty of times since just to watch a Boro match. He even went down to Chelsea with me for the Battle of the Bridge and loved every second of it!
