To think we played Leicester in a final

Just possibly the vast amount of money that the Thais have pumped into the club might have something to do with it ? ...... a wild stab in the dark there
Nope...they were incredibly fortunate to fall upon a winning formula during their league title year when all around them failed. To be fair to them, they’ve built on that success fantastically well. The Thai money didn’t get them to where they are now. A bit of luck and some fantastic management did. To answer the original question, no they aren’t (or werent) a much bigger club than us but they are now.

A great advert for why foreign owners shouldnt be sneered at.

They seem a really well run club who seem to make the right decisions at the right time with their managers. Rodgers is an outstanding manager.

If you look at most of their transfers they are around the 20 million mark and have brought some great young players. They also always seem to buy excellent replacements when they let key players go for good money ie chilwell and maguire.

Their academy is producing some good youngsters too.

My favourite prem team to watch.
James justin, barnes, maddison and telemans all excellent and still young. Be interesting to see who they buy to replace vardy.

I don't think the cup final is the valid starting point for comparison. Since that match we have played in a European Final whilst they languished in the Championship for a while and even spent a season in the 3rd tier.
It is only really the last half a dozen yrs they have progressed so far ahead of us.

Edit
Took me ages to type this. Didn't notice Erimus86's post which is pretty much the same point made more succinctly.

In my lifetime, Leicester have won 2 league cups, the league and the FA Cup.

They're almost certainly always going to be a bigger club than us now.

Hopefully we equal their achievements, but we're nowhere near right now.

They were the better side for the first ten years of me watching Boro, winning the league cup and getting to the cup final during a relegation season, something we have in common.

For the next 20 years, like us they didn't win a thing or get in to a final. Since we became more successful so so have they, winning the league cup once more, but the last half dozen years they've rocketed and we've sunk without trace.
