Time for Gibson to act decisively

Abundantly clear that the coaching staff are not remotely good enough. Outfought, out thought and with all of their signings flattering to deceive.

No shots on target and no points against the bottom two in the league, a point from the other team in the bottom three thanks to a red card, deflection and goalkeeping error, the youngsters who instigated the winning run cast aside for the likes of Morison, Saville, Shotton. Poor performances, poor tactics, lack of effort, no desire....where do you stop?

Disastrous appointment all around. Act now whilst we have a chance of staying up.

We have a novice coach
A no 2 that has never managed and has been outside of uk football for years
And a no 3 who was a goal keeping coach

Total no of years between them in top flight management before they took this role - NONE

I agree with Zorro. He will just sit back and let us rot as he did when we got relegated in the Premier League. Everyone except Gibson could see where the problems were.
Woodgate should of gone months ago.

he wasn't even my second choice though I was fine giving him a go.. Woodgate has been found to be lacking, massively..

managerial appointments are always a risk, this isn't working - imho - way too many poor decisions & selections by JW (game of opinions)

Will Gibson risk it & hope JW can scrape us over the line or will he say times up... McClaren in as coach or mentor? we need someone who knows the game..

My choice was Pearson & Shakespeare, both were available & both overlooked, again..

Squad is massively unbalanced - Monk, fekked us up, big time - though we may be able to shift many on end of season - too many central midfield & too many central strikers..

I agree with you all that the situation is bad.

But what can Gibbo do at this juncture?

The team is in freefall and the transfer window is closed.

Any new manager or coach would only have the same squad of players to work with.

Well he could pick them for a start holgateswall or do you think friends and shotton is the answer

but a new - experienced - coach many know what he's doing....

whoooya gonna call.... Tony Pulis o_O

No action is tantamount to accepting relegation.

Maybe the drop in renewals might make him do something.

I'd get Warnock or someone similar in to help until the end of the season. It worked for Robson with Veneables.

The only time you hear of Gibson now is in relation to Tees Development. He hasn’t directed the club for ages, or if he has it’s been one poor decision after the other.

He clearly has given up on the club and it shows. The job given to Woodgate was a difficult one for an experienced manager. Cut costs, no decent signings, vastly over rated squad, over paid, over rated poor strikers and to remain competitive AND change the style of play!!??!! Woodgate doesn’t come across as overly intelligent and I’ve never thought of him as management material.

it’s a shocking decision from Gibson and was always likely to fail. The only managing decision Gibson got right in more than a decade and 8 was Karanka and he had help with that one. Every manager since McLaren was allowed to keep the job for too long. When backing has been given to managers, the amount and the overall strategy of signings has been dreadful since 2006 with minor successes which I consider as much luck as judgement.

just about every marque signing has been poor and ill thought out. We have known for years how poor we have been going forward and still we cannot get a balanced squad.

I agree Zorro that the likes of Friend/ Shotton are not the answer so god knows what he is thinking about bringing them back in at this stage of ths season.

However getting shot of Woodgate now would mean that any new manager/coach would only have the same squad at his disposal.

The real problem is up front with The likes of Gestede as one of the limited options.

Its not looking good and reminds me of when Willie Maddren was in charge.

The likes of myself, col and Indeedido have received plenty of criticism over our views on how Gibson runs the club. Reading this today and the callers on the radio should be enough for even the most loyal Gibson supporters to be questioning just where the club is heading and how many more false promises will be made to the fanbase before we see a tangible change.

Looking back to when Woodgate was appointed, Gibson said he was the outstanding candidate. I'm starting to think the other candidates were probably those ones from the dole who are required to apply for jobs to keep receiving dole money.

When I advertise for new members of my design team, I get a lot of warehouse workers, who put "NONE" under skills, applying for the roles. I'm thinking that was the applicant standard.

Pearson & Shakespeare were available.. both won promotion with Leicester & were proven..

Woodgate: outstanding candidate, because he was the only one with zero management experience..

I honestly thought he would have fallen on his sword after that today. And yes, I was there with my son and we're both utterly, savagely depressed. To not have a shot on target against the two bottom teams in the division is indefensible; simple as that. I heard that Gibson was there today to watch that capitulation. Hmm!!
