Tier 2 rules

Businesses reflect the attitude of the public, some will do their best to curtail the spread while others just won't bother.

Fines for businesses and non compliant customers will pay for more community officers to regulate what's going on and bring down the spread. They don't need to be in the police force.

Whilst that rule is 'reasonably' clear, I also think its difficult to judge others for doing it. You never know the circumstances. I'm sure if you had a mate who was at their wit's end with mental health related problems, or SAD, or personal tragedy, or whatever else, you might consider pushing the boundaries and 'accidentally' being in the same pub at the same time as them (which is perfectly allowed by the way).

"I'll openly admit I went to Spoons last night with my mate. We were half-expecting to be challenged after entering and if we had have been we would have happily left but we were just told to sign in using the covid app and to use the Wetherspoons app for ordering."

I think its clear from his post & subsequent comments he knew what he was doing.

I'm not saying he didn't. All I'm saying is you never know the full circumstances where others are concerned.

To be honest, I accept we were wrong to meet at the pub last night, and by doing so we broke the rules. I'm aware of the implications of our actions, that we could have potentially put ourselves and others at risk.

I can honestly say though that it's the first time I have. It was really tough during the original lockdown, as I was still having to work and obviously like everyone else, couldn't meet up with friends and family.

I accept I was wrong, but also think they should have just closed the pubs. Having the pubs stay open is like dangling a carrot, and let's be honest, the majority of people who visit pubs are generally friends who want to meet up and socialise. The reality is that families aren't going to decide to go out together for a meal and few drinks very often, especially in these times.
