Tickets for shows moved for Covid................WTF

The other day I asked about the Richard Dawson show at the Westgarth . Confirmed its not going ahead. I have been getting e-mails from shows that have been moved sometimes by as much as a year. There does not seem to be an option for a refund on some of these shows(I still have others to check out) even though on some of the new days those I booked for now have work commitments. Unless I booked and added "Ticket Protection" there seems no chance of a refund and even with it it looks difficult to get a refund. Where is the incentive to book shows that are still being announced when you cannot get a refund if it is moved.
I am not talking about our local promoters here but maybe DCI_Gene_Hunt can tell me how I stand with these tickets for shows some cannot attend. He will have a lot more knowledge of the rules than me. As well has Richard Dawson(no new date for this one yet), its same for Sparks at The Barrowlands and as I said maybe others I havent checked yet. Town Hall are offering refund for Roddy Woomble if I cannot make dates but although it will mean son coming straight from work we want to go. In fact in an ideal world I want to go to them all.

If the rescheduled dates are not suitable then you should receive a refund.

ELO appreciated how these things work so they cancelled their tour instead of rescheduling it thus forcing the ticket agencies into giving a refund. Ticketmaster kept the booking fee the cheeky *******.

I had tickets for Ozzy Osbourne, Incubus, The Killers and Pearl Jam.

Although Pearl Jam have just today confirmed rescheduled dates for next summer, and I believe The Killers did the same, so I imagine my tickets are still valid for those. No idea on Incubus or Ozzy?

As I understand it if a show is "significantly changed" and that means usually a new date, new venue or the billing is substantially changed (ie a Double header show featuring two well known names is changed to just one of those bands) then you are entitled to a refund.

I have had shows that I have bought tickets for rescheduled. I invariably buy through See Tickets and to be fair to them they have always refunded me when I have requested a refund.

Recently a show I had tickets for in Edinburgh was cancelled. I had bought these through the only seller selling the tickets, a firm called Eventbrite. I went to their web site and tried to claim a refund but they said it was the promoters responsibility to refund me as the promoter had not cancelled the event and as far as they were concerned it was still happening. I sent them a link showing that the band had announced cancellation of the shows but they said they would not refund me.

I tracked down the promoter (a local promoter in Edinburgh) and asked what was going on. She said she was trying to reschedule the show and wouldn't be refunding me! I pointed out that this is illegal and also the fact that tickets were still on sale for a show that wasn't happening was at the best immoral if not fraudulent. She then stopped responding to messages.

I continued to hassle Eventbrite who wouldn't help at all. I even contacted the band and posted on their Facebook page highlighting the issue. A day after that the promoter refunded me.

I shouldn't have to do that. The ticket agent is responsible for the refund. Buying a ticket for a show is like buying a TV or a pair of jeans. You enter into a contract with the seller and they are obliged to refund you if the show is changed or cancelled but not just because you can't go or decide you don't want to..

It all stinks of the carry on people have had with getting refunds on holidays and flights. The sellers just blatantly disregarding their responsibility to refund you.

Just for the record as a promoter when I have had to cancel or reschedule a show I have to inform the SEE Tickets (who I sell online through) admin manager and they send out an email to ticket purchasers and advise them of the changes and offer a refund or to use the tickets for the rescheduled date. Usually from the date the email goes out you only have a limited time to claim a refund and I'm pretty sure that timescale is not the same for all sellers. I think SEE is a month. That is to stop you keeping the tickets and then deciding to ask for a refund a day before the event and denying the promoter the opportunity to resell.

Bought tickets for 90s fest at magna in november last year (early bird prices) for an event that was meant to take place easter saturday. It got moved to 24th october, which was only cancelled last week but instead of rescheduling it for next easter theyve said oh no thats too soon so we'll have it next summer (no date given)

Refunds if you cant make the summer event next year once theyve announced the date .. how sneaky is that? Shouldnt be allowed

They might not even announce the new date until well into 2021

i'm waiting on the royal abert hall to refund me for a cancelled show. they say there are "rearranging". no sign of a refund yet.

My RAH show has been rescheduled but I'm going to keep the tickets because I've got great seats.

Did they email to advise change of date? If so did they offer a refund?

Or have you asked them to refund?

don't laugh at the event but this is the mail:

I had a few issues with ticketmaster. I had purchased 4 tickets for guns and roses at new spuds stadium in May. The cost the best part of £450.

Clearly it got binned in March / April time. The issue and maybe 'sneaky' wording was it was going to be rescheduled. So I couldn't get my money back because they were still valid for the new dates. The dates weren't announced until last month. So I have now been issued a refund but had to wait best part of 4 months.

Clearly many people out of work etc wanted the money back as soon as it was canned. I looked into it and Ticketmaster had defo been 'sneaky'. The had apparently changed the T&Cs mid lockdown to say you only get a refund once new dates are released or the tour is canceled. So people could have money sat with Ticketmaster for 6-8 months or more until bands decide what to do😕

This wasn't the case pre covid. You could get a full refund straight away. I guess they had so many folk asking for money back they couldn't manage.

Still a bit sly changing T&Cs pre lockdown. I did get my money back in full (minus booking fee). I had to wait nearly 4 months👎

I have tickets for Roger Waters "This Is Not A Drill", which was supposed to in August at MSG and now postponed until "next year". All I have is - hang onto the tickets and wait for further information. Somehow, I think I'll have left New York before this happens.

They are taking the **** the same as TUI, Ryanair etc did, the show isn't happening as advertised so you are entitled to a refund.

Tickets for Nick Cave, Bon Iver, Brian Wilson, Agnes obel
All rescheduled and, if can’t attend, refund offered
I‘ll find a way to attend to all of them, I think.

They actually offered the refund? Thats exactly what they should be doing. Was that one particular agent or different ones?

This thread got me thinking. Just went to the Ticketmaster website and submitted my refund request. Said it could take up to 30 days.

I love ELO with all my heart, but truthfully - if you don't want to miss out on the "live" experience, simply set up some flashing lights in your living room and play the studio record at top volume, because I've seen them in concert and that's pretty much all they're doing. It sounded amazing, but I was truly surprised to hear multiple layers of instruments and vocals which clearly weren't being performed by any of the people onstage.

I had loads of stuff booked back in March and was able to get all of it refunded eventually, although some things took a long time. West End shows, football matches, rock gigs, a festival... it all ended up back in my bank account in the end, minus some already extortionate booking fees.
