Tiananmen Square Massacre anniversary

Dreadfully poignant anniversary given what is happening in the free world at the moment.
 
I think the fact all this was carried out in front of the global cameras shows how sinister that regime was.

a horrendous tragedy and let’s not forget how brave those students/protesters were that image of the shopping bag carrying student staring down that tank is arguably one of the images of the last century ( along with the girl running in Vietnam) it’s burned into the psyche of all who saw it and is just as powerful now as it was then.

let’s hope we don’t see history repeated in Hong Kong ( though I fear we well do).

Now the USA brings out its military onto the streets whilst its ordinary citizens are threatened with armed riot "police" because they protest for equality - its not ok to be black in America.
The US and western "media" calls people rioters and accuses those protesting of being "terrorists" - an enemy of the state.

The irony is that those thugs who regularly undermine the rule of law and loot and riot in Hong Kong are called "protesters for Democracy".
The West are hypocrites.

A thread dedicated to the unfortunate thousands of peaceful protestors who just wanted the rights we all take for granted today, that were murdered by their own government on the spot. The only hypocrite here is you, are you some kind of CCP sympathiser or do you really have so much hate for Donald Trump that you completely see past everything? The day American sends in tanks and soldiers gunning down civilians for the sake of it, the day your argument stacks up. Until then, the CCP continues to be a totalitarian regime that executes more of its own citizens than the rest of the world combined and the US will be the beacon of western democracy with the separation of powers and freedoms guaranteed in a written constitution that existed before Trump and will continue after Trump.

How would you feel if you were just one comment away from being locked up and sent to a concentration camp? Or cut off from the outside world and your rights to religion, free speech, a free press and rights to protest were taken away from you? Because that is exactly what will happen to Hong Kong shortly. I have friends in Taiwan, Kaohsiung to be precise, and on a daily basis they are having fighter jets and warships from China harassing the island. The CCP have said once they've established order in Hong Kong they will take Taiwan by force if they have to, just let that sink in for a moment. Taiwan, a pluralistic democratic liberal society, with same sex marriage, free healthcare, fantastic education system that donated millions of masks, ventilators and other forms of PPE to the rest of the world during the virus outbreak - taken by a regime more oppressive, brainwashed and dangerous than Hitler's Nazi Party.
