Thought I’d see a ‘No deal’ thread

Well the definitive thing about 31 Dec/1 Jan is that concessions/rates etc are scrapped and advantages/disadvantages of being in the EU have gone if deals are not made.
That's what Brexit is all about.
works both ways though doesn't it.

Deals can be made anytime - theres nothing definitive about 31 dec
In setting out the framework of the future relationship between the Union and the United
Kingdom, this declaration confirms, as set out in the Withdrawal Agreement, that it is the
clear intent of both Parties to develop in good faith agreements giving effect to this
relationship and to begin the formal process of negotiations as soon as possible after the
United Kingdom's withdrawal from the Union, such that they can come into force by the end
of 2020.

"clear intent of both Parties "

It was the PMs view that there was no intent by the EU. He stated they had not moved an inch in months. I note that the EU have not countered that statement AFAIK.

You should watch that documentary - I forget the name - behind the scenes of the negotiation. EU were taking the pi$$ and laughing at the UK.

I wasnt aware the 31st December had past. Where did christmas go? I sometimes wish they would end a football game after 60 minutes or a horse race with 3 furlongs left but no you have to go the full stretch. The last time I checked the calendar the deadline hadn’t past.

Not to mention rumours that some in Brussels wouldn’t mind a period of no deal to concentrate minds and bring every back to the table. That doesn’t seem to get mentioned much though surprisingly
I want a no deal now. Because it’ll bring down the tories as the fight each other and the EU with a car park through Kent and Covid Failures dogging them.
there is always a silver lining 👍

The uk fecking government idiots deserve to be laughed at
The EUs nickname has always been’the monkeys from the island’
Perfectly apt

There was 1.3 MILLION MORE votes for Leave across the United Kingdom

Honestly remainers.... you still haven't accepted a result from 4 years ago

We've had the 'EU project' for the past 40+ years - people obviously didn't like it, so it is now time we tried something different

Oh we've accepted it, I'm just waiting for your people to deliver what they promised. Where's the easiest deal in history?

The interesting thing about going the ‘democratic vote’ route:
48% voted to stay therefore, by definition, being happy with a trade deal
52% voted leave on the basis we would get a deal
ergo
100% of those who voted wanted a deal
Compelling

The question on the ballot paper was "Should the UK remain a member of the EU or leave the EU ?"
Simple enough. Nothing there about a trade deal. That's just invention.

So if the answer is "Yes" does that person want to remain or stay?

Perhaps I should have said that there were 2 boxes under the question where you put your X bear66. One said, "Remain a member of the EU" ,the other said "Leave the EU".

Nothing about trade deals there though.

There was nothing on the ballot paper ref trade deal - correct.
We were all told, time and time again that there would be a deal.
Then we voted.

It is a bit like saying when you vote in an election there is nothing on the paper about manifesto promises.
You win the election and do what you want.
That’s odd for a democracy

Neither was there anything about the UK having to pay upwards of £40 billion as a divorce settlement.
