This week, I 'ave been mostly listening to

This week I have been mainly listening to Steven Wilson's album years podcasts and associated playlists.👍

I saw Down when they supported Heaven and Hell. They're pretty good 🤘

When you listen to Electric Ladyland it makes you wonder what Jimi would have gone on to create. According to some people who knew him he was interested in a huge range of music and was wanting to break out into other genres. Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of his death. Rest in peace Jimi.

I actually think Down are a much better band than Pantera, who I think are massively overrated. Wouldn't mind seeing them live. Their first album, 'NOLA' is brilliant.

Indeed! It's a fantastic album, the definition of timeless. Also, Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is heavy as hell for the time it was written. Superb.

Yes I'll be getting the incense out and spinning some Jimi.

The record called something like last rays of the new rising sun has a bunch of stuff he was working on before he died. Some really brilliant stuff on there and not at all like some of the stuff his estate put out that's just crappy demos.
I think he was going really funky. Stuff like freedom. Noel Redding out for Billy Cox.

I think 1983 has to be my favourite of electric ladyland.

As I'm working from home and the wife and kids are back to work/school, I decided to listen to the whole Iron Maiden studio album catalogue in chronological order, am currently on to The X Factor which was the first album with Blaze Bayley.

Some absolute belters so far and didn't realise how much I love the debut album 'Iron Maiden' that Paul Di'Anno sang on.

Hendrix is probably the best ever for me - rewrote how to play the guitar. Wish I had fingers an thumbs as long as his were, it would be so much easier to play !

The Iron Maiden debut is superb, I still give it a regular spin, it still sounds as fresh to me as it did 40 years ago.
