This week, I 'ave been mostly listening to

Scubahood

Well-known member
Sulphur Aeon - The Scythe of Cosmic Chaos
Primal Fear - Nuclear Fire
Bolzer - Hero
Lifelover - Konkurs
Malthusian - Across Deaths
Bolzer - Aura (EP)
Winterfylleth - The Reckoning Dawn
Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide
Autopsy - Live in Chicago
Katalepsy - Autopsychosis
Napalm Death - Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism
Grift - Syner
Queen - Greatest Hits I
Pi$$grave - Suicide Euphoria
Eloy - Planets
Bethlehem - Dictius Te Necare

I've had another good week, listened to these albums :

Hawkwind - Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music
Manilla Road - Crystal Logic
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Black Sabbath - Live at Last
Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets
Manilla Road - Mystification
Hawkwind - Roadhawks
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Big Audio Dynamite - This is Big Audio Dynamite
Frank Zappa - The Grand Wazoo
AC/DC - Highway to Hell
Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil
Hawkwind - Quark, Strangeness & Charm
Frank Zappa - Zappa in New York

A few good ones there that you recommended Scuba. Plus I had a bit of a listen to most of the other 19 albums you listed. Some good bits and pieces in amongst it all, but I struggle to listen to anything that goes much beyond thrash metal or has growly type vocals.

Perfectly understandable mate, harsh vocals aren't for everyone and take a lot of getting used to! Glad you're enjoying Manilla Road though, have you checked out any of their other albums? 'Open the Gates' and 'The Deluge' in particular are superb 👍

Christmas Music by Mannheim Steamroller (wife loves them@Christmas whilst wrapping prezzies etc)
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Beck - Various
Arctic Monkeys - Later stuff mostly
All Them Witches - Nothing as the Ideal

I'm sure All Them Witches were supporting Ghost when I saw them last year, will have to check 🤔

Edit - Yep they were!

Quick reminder that it's "Bandcamp Day" in which Bandcamp forego their fees and give them to artists who use the site.

To that end I have just picked up

The Magpie Arc - EP2
Andy Bell - The View From Halfway Down
Katherine Priddy - Still Winter, Still Waiting

All quite folky (Andy Bell - Pysch-Folk) and all worthy of your lug'oles if you are of that mindset.

Getting a little festive with

Thea Gilmore - Strange Communion
Kate Rusby - Holly Head

A bit Jazzy with

Gil Scott-Heron - Best of
Miles Davies - Kind of Blue

And some R6. Alles gut.

My taste in music is all over the place tbf.

Jamie Webster - We Get By
Griselda - WWCD
Conway The Machine - From King to A God
Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around
Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts

This week (like most weeks) I have been mostly reliving the 1970’s and 80’s with a good bit of the best of 2016 thrown in for good measure

Following your recommendations last week, I really loved Manilla Road and after buying "Crystal Logic" on CD I started to chug my way through your other recommendations. I quite liked Mgla, until I read about their potential Nazi sympathies, which are doubtful. I really wanted to like Ahab, but was ultimately disappointed. Mostly because of my own bigotry rather than their music - I totally love "Moby d*ck" and they never even began to approach the wonder contained in that novel. I really liked Enslaved, but couldn't explain why. Then I read the Guardian article by Nadine Shah, heard Guy Garvey talking about speaking to Parliament about streaming, and cancelled Spotify, resolving to buy more CDs again.
So last week was your recommendations, for which thanks, and next week will be Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, plus "Breaking The News", "The Blame Game" "Rutherford and Fry" and various dramas and documentaries on radio.

PS Good to see Eloy on your list for this week. Always liked them.

OK Scuba. I've got 3 albums for you to try. If you haven't heard them already. 3 of my favourites and it just dawned on me they're linked by the cover art.

Pink Floyd - Animals

Hi mate, thanks for the feedback! Always interesting to get different views on bands. I don't think Mgla have anything to do with Nazism, it's just something the music press seem to try and suggest of any eastern European black metal outfit who end up gaining popularity. They're just miserable, misanthropic nihilists, in the best possible way 🤣

If you ever want any more recommendations just let me know 👍

Yeah, that's what I kind of thought. I just didn't think they had the "one eye smiling" feeling of, say, Behemoth

I'll continue chasing up anything you leave up here for Centralscrutinizer, or whoever else likes 'em. I'll just have to check them out via Youtube or some such, rather than giving them concentrated audio time. As ever. I'll happily listen to new stuff.

Have a great week, whatever you're listening to.

Few Aussie bands for to check out..
Bad Dreems - Dogs At Bay (debut album)
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - KG (new album)
Paul Kelly- The Merri Soul Sessions
Eddy Current Suppression Ring - Eddy Current Suppression Ring (debut album)
