That works well doesn't it. Live in Redcar no click and collect for Morrisons or Tesco. Nearest one is Stockton. Cannot get a slot from Tesco until after April 8th(at least as that is as far as it goes up to). Morrisons will not even give me a slot, just saying error. Probably go out foraging in morning for crumbs in the shops. I can see why the selfish would hoard stuff but this was just for a normal shop.

Is there any reason why you can't be arsed(astheycome) to go to the shops ? Genuine question.

There are people in high risk categories who shouldn't go out and others who really need home deliveries. My mates mum has MS and has relied on weekly deliveries from Tesco for years as she daren't risk going out on her own. Now she's being told the their weekly deliveries are being suspended until they can increase staff levels as a result of excessive demand.
 
If you're isolating due to suspected C19 then you're in the same boat as those who have been isolating since before the disease.

Government needs to get its **** into gear and act rather than spouting what sounds good to their sponsors. Or isn't it capable?

SloBo will be seeing what Macron and Co. do in the EU then copying, again.

That's why I was asking. If you're not then there's no reason you can't goto the shop. As AATC said that he would "Probably go out foraging in morning for crumbs in the shops." then I assume he is not isolating.
 
Rather bemusing scenes at my local Sainsbury superstore this morning. Over 70s and the vulnerable have the store first at 7am-8am. Quite right too. There was then a queue outside of what I can only describe as 100m specialist on their marks to rush in at 8 - like the old days of NY sales days. They are still using the hand held smart reader machines but they are programmed to stop any item being bought more than thrice.

The visit to the supermarket is going to represent for many the social highlight of the day - open air, competitiveness, something to get the heart rate pumping.
 
No I can go to shops I was just looking in to it for if/when things get worse. They were talking about shops in London closing this morning on Sky News. That said I am 66 year old asthmatic with high blood pressure so I am in a risky category. I would much prefer to go to the shops. I am not isolating yet just being a bit wary. As I said I will be out shopping in the morning but it is the government that is saying those with underlying conditions should not be venturing out but not really giving us much alternatives.

I wasn't having a go btw AATC, just trying to point out the issue everyone doing on-line shopping causes.
 
It's up to the supermarkets, with government backing, to solve the situation. While they're offering online shopping frightened people will try to use it.

Same attitude a panic buying then. Fcuk those who need it - I'm alright jack. It NOT just a government / supermarket issue resolve. It's down to everyone to act responsibly.

Not a problem Konrad. I was intending just to look though what was on offer and set up a list for future but then I saw the button saying select a delivery date and it just got me wondering how long the wait was. As CTC pointed out It's up to the supermarkets, with government backing, to solve the situation
 
Konrad, people are frightened and are taking on the scant information coming from above. It's not a f you attitude.

People going to the shops when they have an ill member of the family at home is a bigger problem.

It's the government's job to ensure that people act responsibly. So far it seems to be left to the supermarkets. And people are obviously going to buy in bulk now, in readiness for having to isolate. I don't think it is down to a foolish minority we are seeing empty shelves. It is people acting responsibly to ensure they have enough supplies to last two weeks. Of course there will be some *****. But I don't think that's why we are seeing empty shelves.
 
Went out shopping today and still loads of people going out and about. I would estimate that over 70% of those out were above pensionable age. Don't seem to be getting much help from government or anybody else really. At least some shops are allowing them in at an allotted time slot.

One thing I have noticed is all the shops have run out of beans except Heinz beans. There are loads left. Don't like them myself so can understand why.
 
I still find it difficult to fathom why people are over buying to such an extent and do feel that there is profiteering at large with traders buying up supermarket stock to on trade. Nobody will starve because they can't get food in physically. A normal weekly shop could easily stretch and if desperate there is help out there if required. Neighbours, friends relatives why 2000 strangers in my community are only too keen to pitch in.
