This is more like it

Let’s be grateful that we’ve played two poor teams this past few days. Mind you we have acquitted ourselves a lot better and seem to have maybe found a home for a few players like Crooks and Payero. Let’s hope Sporar is ok for the weekend.

Different personnel with the same 532 formation today and it was much much better. howson at right wingback jones at left wingback worked really well and peltier impressed centrally. The Midfield was much improved with crooks as the ball winner and tav far more effective centrally, giving payero the platform to create further forward.
Really goods signs today Warnock may have found a winning formula having said all that Barnsley were atrocious

Agree with all of the above when in possession. We looked threatening and moved the ball well.

Still work to do without the ball though for me. The man to man pressing leaves us so exposed if one player loses his individual 50/50. It's high risk and worked tonight as centre halves covered well but a better team will tear us apart.

Some good signs for sure, just lost count of the number of overhit crosses we made and really should have been 3 up by half time but promsing

How did that lad miss the chance in the first 5 minutes, though? I’d turned away in disgust, waiting for the groans!

So don't lose your 50/50. We won plenty of 30/70s tonight.
Granted but our midfield is not good enough to win every single ball they attempt to win (few are)

Just a couple of times in the first half where we would have benefitted from sitting off rather than chasing play. I expect we will against better sides.

My first concession game and I enjoyed it, particularly the first half. Not a high standard of football but two teams having a go, a 5-3 scoreline possible with decent finishing.

It's a shame Sprorar was injured, he and Watmore were mobile up front, neither as clinical as they should have been but it made for some exciting stuff, same for the Barnsley forwards.

Crooks was the main man in midfield, man of the match for me. Payero showed he can play to a high standard but he's still settling in, Jones is a decent young talent, Tav grafts hard and stretched Barnsley time and again but his decision making was as poor as ever.

At the back Samba was good, despite a couple of slip ups, McNair covered well and what a great ball for the first goal, Howson good at right back and Peltier did ok on the left too, the keeper had a steady game.

Well I enjoyed it. Great going forward and some woeful finishing to keep the game interesting.

Against better teams we will have to be more clinical because we won't get so many chances.

The changes forced on warnock might just prove to be a boon.

It was definitely enjoyable to watch after the first 10 minutes and the let off with the ball hitting the post. I think the bigger test will be the weekend when we face a team away from home who are desperate. Cardiff in a terrible run of form and a manager who will lose his job if they lose. What also will we have learnt from the Hull game?
