He played 17 games as a CH for his hometown club, though his career was disrupted by the 2nd World War & been called up

It's said that if caps were rewarded for all members of international teams then HS would be the record holder

Served the Boro for over 50 years in different roles, including caretaker manager & later, a radio pundit with the late, great Ally Brownlee, while also having the flyover to the stadium named after him for his contribution to the club
