This day 1995 rain soaked Barnsley away

Seen record signing Jan Arga Fjortoft score his 2nd Boro goal & 2nd consecutive goal as the mighty Boro went to Barnsley on the 22nd April looking for 3 points to put pressure on the teams fighting for the only automatic place for promotion

Viv Anderson at the age of 39 playing in his 2nd game & last Boro game

Unfortunatly we had to settle for a share of the points as Barnsley came back to equalise

I was there, remember it well - cheeky little chip over the keeper from the edge of the box by JAF? That's how my mind remembers it anyway....

Was Steve Agnew playing in that game too? I remember one game away at Barnsley where he was a standout player

Remember that - don’t think I made it to that game though, but a nice goal from the barking mad Norwegian 👍🏻 Was Viv the oldest player to take the field for Boro or was it Robbo ? Seem to remember them both being in the squads for some Prem games but can’t remember if either actually made it into the pitch so i suspect you’re right saying it was Vivs last appearance

The rain was my overriding memory of that game. It was even worse than any of the soakings we regularly got at Oldham.
Ah, remember those days dood, swinging across in to the away end over a massive puddle on a big iron gate:confused:

Was this the game where they gave us those Alton Towers style macs that you used to get on the log flume - I must be getting old as the games are all starting to merge together

That's the wettest I've ever been at a football match, I was 100% wet. Great game though and great day out. I think its part of the reason I always enjoy going back to Oakwell.

We could do with some rain like that now mind, our garden is scorched! It was like marshland 2 months ago!

Two of the wettest Boro games Ive attended, Villa away ZDS SF 1st leg & Sunderland at home September 1976 Boro won 2-1 with Alan Willey Sunderland fan scoring both our goals

Bristol City away by far the wettest and coldest for me (no cover but the middle of winter as well) and we were 3-0 down at half time.

Forgot about that game, 3 of us went in my car which broke down half a dozen times, we eventually got to the game at HT
After the game my car wouldn't start so the car had to be towed county to county, I got home 5 in the morning

Memorable!!!

Selling ponchos at £1 a go. Wet!!!
And then they ran out of ponchos and sold bin bags for the same quid!!

Apart from the rain and more rain, didn't we hit the bar at the end (My memory says Pollock but it's often wrong!)

Also it was odd having 3 quarters of the ground (albeit two stands were virtually shut) with only the new massive stand to the left of the "away end" being for home fans.

It's one game I don't remember anything about apart from feeling miserable!
