A very warm afternoon as Ayresome Park welcomed 2nd divison football back to Teesside after the mighty Boro's return back to 2nd divison football
12 months previous, a summer following relegation, liquidation & uncertainty of the clubs future, the Boro got to grips with life in the third tier & were magnificent that season, finishing runners up to Bournemouth, a remarkable & unbelievable season, with another remarkable season to follow, which started on this day at home to Millwall
Our last home game of our relegated season was a 3-0 win v Millwall & on our return to the 2nd division our 1st home game was again v Millwall
Boro faced a tough opening fixture at home to Millwall
Archie Stephens spectacular 82nd minute diving header at the holgate end, rescued a point for the Boro
New signing & future big crowd favourite, "Deano" Glover from Aston Villa registered No586 was given the No11 shirt by Bruce Rioch who picked the following team
