5th March seen the mighty Boro suffer a right thumping in front of the MOTD cameras in attendance, while wearing QPR's orange training top due to us turning up with a sponsord kit only & to be shown on MOTD.
Back then the BBC wouldn't allow sponsored shirts on the telly so we had to wear QPR's orange shirts

Mick Kennedy scored our goal from the penalty spot, his 2nd Boro career goal to date, to bring us back in to the game any 2-1, but that was as good as it got

David Shearer sat in the stand for a few seconds, probably as relief

I recall the United shirts at City, we lost 3-2 Hodgy scored & got sent off
When did we wear Plymouth shorts, I wasn't aware of that
 
I remember that game well. It was possibly the worst performance I have ever seen a team purporting to represent Middlesbrough put on.
We couldn’t even sing “You’re not fit to wear the shirt”. Because they weren’t.

QPR had a plastic pitch from 1981-88 so yes. In fact I believe we were the first team to play an FA Cup tie on a plastic pitch as an away team. V QPR. 2/1/1982. QPR went on to reach the Final.
 
Did you know that QPR used to be on MOTD a lot. That was because if a scheduled game was postponed Loftus Road was near the BBC studios so they could just take all the equipment there.
 
I remember a home match against Barnsley at Ayresome when they had to wear our blue away kit, I’m not sure of the reason behind it I just remember a couple of Barnsley fans protesting that they were now playing in what they assumed was a blue third kit.

Does anyone else remember this?
 
I have a photo of us playing Newport or Preston with the away team wearing our Hansa shirts, I will post it

I do think Barnsley did wear our shirts, rings a bell

It was the solid blue Adidas shirt if I remember correctly, some time between 79 and 81 before sponsorship.

Yes & Bobby Thomson became the 1st player to score an FAC goal on an artificial pitch when we took the lead, they scored in the 2nd half & the game ended 1-1

I think I was at that FA cup match. First time I ever saw beer on sale at a football match, drank plenty of it (Courage Light). We sang the longest rendition of "Bobby Murdocks red and white army" of all time. Stopped in Wetherby on the way home for a night out, ended up sleeping in the car next to the river,. Woke up early morning and we were parked 6" deep in water after it had flooded during the night. The joy of youth.
