This day 1982 - Dave Thomas socks down around his ankles, no shin pads

Made his debut for the Boro this day the 1982 at home to Man City

Bobby Murdochs final throw of the dice to try & salvage something from the disasterous season when, from within 12 months, we've gone from having a very good manager building a young, exciting team to a team stripped of all its valued assets, a novice manager & heading for the 2nd divison & whatever else comes in our way

Dave Thomas went on to play 13 games for the mighty Boro, scoring one goal, his last away game for the Boro & a victory, was subbed by a debutant Boro player, Dave Currie
In his 13 games we won 5, drew 5 & lost only 3, but the damage was done in the 1st half of the season, IMHO mind

Bobby Murdochs team

Jim Platt
Irving Nattrass
Ian Bailey
Colin Ross
Mick Baxter
Darren Wood
Mick Angus
Heine Otto
Dave Hodgson
Billy Ashcroft

Dave Thomas was introduced to the crowd at QPR vs Boro this/last season.

Not sure sure that he acknowleged the Boro fans but is was the tail end of his career and he had to stand around in foul weather.

The 1st time we played on this day as a football league club was in 1908-09 season, when beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield with goals from the 1st £1000 footballer Alf Common & Steve Bloomer, both players caused a stir when they signed for the Boro

Gary Gill's finest hour
Gary Gills finest hour indeed. He played his knackers off after missing a sitter in the first minute!

He knacked his leg in the net match vs Southampton didnt he. Got his foot stuck underneath an onrushing John Burridge? When Tommy Johnson told him to run it off
