This day 1975 - Chelsea away win

22nd March seen the mighty Boro go to Stamford Bridge & extend our continuous winning run to 4 games

After 3 consecutive home wins over Stoke (2-0), Spurs (3-0) & Everton (2-0) the Boro travelled to SB in the hope of continuing the excellent run & moving up the 1st divison tabel against one of the relehgation threatened teams

We inflicted a good away win at Chelsea, our 1st win at SB since Wilf Mannion scored the only goal of the game on the 29th January 1938, when Alan Wiley, on his 15th appearence for the Boro, scored his 3rd Boro goal of the season & 1st away goal
John Craggs added the 2nd goal, putting the Boro in to a 2 goal lead with his 1st top flight goal & only goal of that campaigne

Chelsea pulled agoal back to make a bit of a fight of it, then Terry Cooper, playing his 3rd game since his transfer from Leeds & his 1st Boro away game, was sent off

The year before our school had a school trip to London & an England v France schoolkids match to attend, which my parents paid for, the following year the school were going to London & including the Chelsea v Boro game, my parents coukdnt afford for me to go again as, we had a big family, I look back & wished I'd gone to the Chelsea game instead of the Wembley game in 74
