On this day 1973 - Malcolm Poskett

Named as sub with what was to be his one & only 1st team appearance for the Boro at home to Hull City & possibly at that time, the least amount of 1st team minutes a Boro player has played

On the 13th of october with 12 minutes remaining Malcolm Poskett given the No12 shirt by big Jack made his debut when coming on for Malcolm Smith & became one of a handful of players at Ayresome Park who made a single sub appearance & never seen anymore 1st team action for the Boro

Incidentally, the 1st player to play one sub appearance & then gone from the club, was Pat Lynch, April 1972 away to QPR, when he replaced David Mills, Malcolm Poskett became the 2nd player

Boro won this 2nd division fixture 1-0 with a goal from Malcolm Smith, his 2nd goal of the season on his 3rd start of the season

11 games in, top of the league with one defeat

Funny, the only thing I've always remembered about this game, other than MP debut was as a boysend regular, going down the kiosk at half time & buying a Mars bar
