That more than one Boro player scored a hattrick in the same game
On this day 1958 Brian Clough & Alan Peacock scored three goals each as we ran out 6-1 winners at home to Scunthorpe in a second divison fixture, this was the 1st time we met each other in a competative game
Alan Peacock scored the 1st 2 goals, Brian Clough then took over scoring three on the bounce to record his 3rd Boro career hattrick to date, Alan Peacock completed the rout with the 6th goal to complete his hattrick
When the whistle blew Boro had recorded the 66th & 67th hattrick at Ayresome Park & a total of 86 overall from becoming a football league club in 1899
Brian Clough had bagged a couple of 4's & a 5 between his 1st & 3rd hattrick
The previous Boro players to score three in the same game were Wilf Mannion & Alex McRae who bagged three each at home to Huddersfield in an 8-0 win September 1950 & the 1st time, when we won 9-0 win over Goole in the FAC, John Carr, George Elliott & Walter Tinsley bagged three each
