.....was a breath of fresh air after the demise of the last one......but the slide is starting to creep in; trolls appearing, petty bickering and squabbling, schoolboy name calling and so on creeping in. Maybe lockdown is having an effect I dunno, but ffs grow up and let’s not have this place descend into the mess the last board was.

I think its inevitable TBH. Its still the internet.

Maybe. It’s just depressing it has to be that way.
Don't let it get you down. As Ricky Gervais always says, it would be like going into a rundown public toilet and getting angry at what people had written on the walls. Just try to shrug your shoulders and ignore it. You'll never meet them in real life. I think there's enough 'normal' posters on here to drown it out.

It doesnt though really, or it shouldnt be the case, we're all Boro fans with the same thing in common, yes a few words here & there, a few disagreements but lets be honest, its not something you wouldn't get when in a pub having a few beers with your mates & you talk football non stop
But at the end of the day we're not all adults & there lies the problem

Thing is I had been accused by several posters for months of something I hadnt done at all , but they kept going and saying I was. Loved to have seen their faces when Borolad proved I was telling the truth. Did I get an apology?
Read the posted thread from the old board its not bile from me thats for sure.

We are all boro fans, that should be the thing that gels the board and posters. Unfortunately it’s very political too and some posters take that very personally. I would never block anyone due to political interest put some do. Could miss a great post about boro, history, players, music anything really. I’ve been insulted, called out in threads amongst others. You had a poster stating if you weren’t from a left siding position you should shut up and be quiet due to the fanzine being born through the thatcher years. It is 2020 not 1985. Whilst there is so much political bashing on here I can’t see a harmonious board. I’ve had rob stating he thinks I’m a political campaigner which is ridiculous, there in lies the problem too

Its always been political was more intense years ago when most of the current posters rarely posted, just the rise of the ultra right wing caused hatred. Its on way down again now..see the USAand now here.

I’ve been posting on here from about 2006-7. I don’t remember it ever being like it is now. I would say ultra right wing is abit excessive. It’s not nazi Germany. I’ve voted leave and Tory 1st time in 2019, that doesn’t make me ultra right wing, but fair game to some posters, which I find quite sad

I stopped using Twitter a year or so back, it is a cesspit, once opinions range against your own you become a target. Groups you have been part of splinter and attack each other, every statement can be contextualised and used against you in a way you had never intended nor envisaged.

Forums are similar though thankfully on a lesser scale, there are people who seem to thrive on trying to disrupt or destroy anything that exists in (even imperfect) harmony, and they do band together. For that reason alone I thing the ignore button is a lifesaver - I simply cannot expend the energy wasted in arguments with trolls. Now some argiue that they simply have a different view, and that is fine - I have no issue with that at all, but when the insults rain down and the pack forms, I'm out.

The report function is helpful and the admin tools are much better here. We can make it pretty difficult ... not impossible ... for disruptive posters to get on. We can also make them and their crap disappear pretty easily too. We will also warn/give temporary bans to posters who get too heated ... our options are more nuanced.

Treat people as you would like to be treat, never post in anger and always with a smile on your face, if you can, don’t try and offend, be polite and think the best not the worst of posters, be open minded and ready to learn as well as opine, call out behaviour you see as wrong regardless of persuasion but always with goodwill and respect, try and be kind and most of all come on here to enjoy it.

Disingenuousness doesn't help.
