The article calculates the average league position of the remaining opponents. Boro's is 12.8.

The article then goes on to say we have a tougher run in than Stoke (12.2), Huddersfield (12.1), Charlton (11.8) and Barnsley (11.2) but an easier one than Wigan (14.7) and Luton (13.1).

That's the wrong way round isn't it??

Just to confuse matters, the article also states Derby (7.2) have the toughest run in (which is correct as far as I can see!)

Yes I am confused by the point they are trying to make. It says we have a tougher run in because we only play our relegation rivals twice. But I would have thought that it would be better to play teams in mid table with nothing to play for and in that regards our run in is the easiest as we don't play anybody in the top 7.

Zoo, in normal circumstances it is a myth that it is easier to play mid-table teams than, for example relegation threatened teams at the end of the season. All results, and therefore stats point to there being no difference from the begining of a season to the end.

Yes it seems **** about to me. Even the bit about playing teams also at the bottom is a double edged sword. Great if you win but terrible if you lose.

Appreciate and understand what you say but to be honest these aren’t normal circumstances. Teams will be playing twice a week and will not have fans to encourage them on. Therefore I don’t think it is inconceivable to anticipate some easier games against the likes of Bristol City, QPR, Cardiff and Swansea at home. QPR for example have expressed dismay they have to play even.
