Paignton is in South Devon - Treat yourself to a day on the steam train to Kingswear and get the ferry across to Dartmouth. Dartmouth is a beautiful town and is one of a handful of places that had a railway station built and wasn't connected to a train track. Well worth a trip down the River Dart. Thanks everyone for the replies, some great ideas posted.
We are staying at Paignton, not sure if that is north or south Devon to be honest.
We were thinking about going to Longleat safari on way home.
I would assume Longleat is better than Paignton zoo? Don't think we need to do both.
Add to those top tips with Croyde and Sri Lankan curry from the Barricane beach cafe!Depends where you are. It takes ages to get from North coast to south coast.
If on north coast, then:
Clovelly is an amazing place. Picturesque village on the side of a steep cliff, with old-world fisherman's houses and donkeys used to deliver peoples shopping because it is too steep for cars. Well worth going. You need to be fit to walk up again.
Lynton & Lynmouth are really nice villages to visit.
Appledoor is nice.
Exmoor and Dartmoor are nice. Loads of hills and walks around there.
South coast Devon I know less. Looe and Polperro are just over the border into Cornwall, and are really nice places.
Is that at the surfer cafe? We popped in there early May and had some fantastic pizza on the balcony in the sunset - great little spot Croyde even for us non-surfers.Add to those top tips with Croyde and Sri Lankan curry from the Barricane beach cafe!
Longleat is great. We did the Koala experience there and that was great.Gee, thanks everyone, some great ideas posted.
