Hi all

Me and the fam are off to Devon next month and was wondering if anyone here has been and what they recommend to do, see or go to?

Cheers

Paignton zoo
There was also a triple ticket journey from paignton on steam train to dartmouth, boatride up the river dart and the bus back to paignton. Spent a few hiurs in dartmouth. Really good day.
Enjoy.

Salcombe is a nice day out. Bigbury on sea. Lovely beach can be walk over to burgh island at low tide for a pint or get the sea tractor but fun wading through the rising tide.

Was going to say Paignton zoo 👍 Was much better than I was expecting.

It depends on where you are staying. The south coast is softer and more touristy and the ideas above are great things to do.
The North coast is more rugged and a very different coast line. I was based in Barnstaple, the beaches such as Croyde and Woolacombe are beautiful and are great places for surfing or body boarding, great activities if the weather isnt great.

Tintagel is well worth a visit and the area around Bude is good.

Be aware that parking is an issue in most of the hot spots, so get there early and there are camper vans everywhere.

Loads of very interesting National Trust places if you're a member. A La Ronde (near Exmouth) and Castle Drogo were really good.

if you're based in Torquay, and if you can get in, on the rocks restaurant is incredible . Get the ferry across to Brixham.. some great seafood over there too

Depends where you are. It takes ages to get from North coast to south coast.

If on north coast, then:
Clovelly is an amazing place. Picturesque village on the side of a steep cliff, with old-world fisherman's houses and donkeys used to deliver peoples shopping because it is too steep for cars. Well worth going. You need to be fit to walk up again.
Lynton & Lynmouth are really nice villages to visit.
Appledoor is nice.

Exmoor and Dartmoor are nice. Loads of hills and walks around there.

South coast Devon I know less. Looe and Polperro are just over the border into Cornwall, and are really nice places.

If you are in the Brixham area then Broadsands beach is good for a day by the sea . You can hire Stand up paddle boards & kayaks by the hour , if you are into that kind of thing.

Another shout for Lynton and Lynmouth, whisper it but the cliff railway is far superior to Saltburn! If in that part of North Devon, Lorna Doone country is worth a visit too.

Used to live in North Devon and visited all the places you mentioned Steer. Also rather liked Ilfracombe.
Lyton and Lynmouth are great.

Otterey St Mary and Budleigh Salterton are worth a nose around, it’s quite nice around the area of the River Otter.
