There will be some goodbyes in this window

Akpom has already had his contract extended by a year. Carrick confirmed that a while ago so he will be staying. I would be surprised if Jones went as he's not been as good a player as he was the season before and I think the summer will be big for him if Carrick can get him playing the way he wants to. I would be amazed if Fry leaves.

Fisher is in the final year of his contract I think.

What I think last nights result showed is how much we rely on Howson in midfield, I don't think Mowatt plays as well with Hackney. Howson just gets the job done to the point you don't realise he is doing it. Barlaser is getting more effective but he's had a stop start half season.

I would love to be able to keep Giles, and Ramsey. Not sure whats happened to Archer, he's been fantastic but off the boil the last few games like he was biding his time. All three have been key to our success. I can't see us keeping Ramsey and Archer, but Giles I think we have a chance with. Steffen I was unsure about, but he has been great for us by and large and he has already said he wants to leave City in search of regular football. I'd have him back here.

McNair was another I was unconvinced about, but in the first leg and for most of last night he schooled Gyokeres and kept him quiet. Was really impressed and I admit I was wrong about Paddy.

Forss looked tired but he's a fantastic threat out wide.
If you can convince Paddy not to play for NI again he will be worth keeping.

McNair has the odd good game but he's always likely to make a mistake that costs us a goal. He didn't keep Gyokeres quiet long enough. Watch the goal back and see him stood watching as the ball sailed over his head and then showing no urgency to get back to defend. He's a midfielder, not a defender. He's ok as a stop gap but he should never be a 1st choice defender at this level. He's not good enough. He's rubbish in midfield as well. Right back he would suffer from the same ball watching problems he has at centre back.

He's just nowhere near good enough to justify his high wages. I don't know where this notion he is a winner would come from. He's won nothing in his career. Multiple relegations with Sunderland and no achievements with us. He plays for Northern Ireland so they've obviously won nothing.

Couldn't agree more luxury player on good wages.

A lot of our tailing off seems to have coincided with the Howson & Hackney partnership getting disrupted. That's not a slam on Mowatt but I think Hackney & Howson are more than the sum of their parts when they play together.

It does but it was unrealistic to expect those two to play all season. Mowatt simply hasnt the pace to drive forward hes a sitter.

So......consensus is we've got enough for a reasonable 5 a side team at Goals. Have to rotate the keeper, everyone takes a turn in nets -

Lenihan
Hackney
McGree (if Celtic turn him down)
Howson
Forss

Everyone else in the squad is either shyte, loan finishes or should be sold...... because they're shyte.

😳😳

Utter, utter nonsense.

He did brilliantly against him for 3 games, wtf were you watching?

Archer scored against Coventry in our last league game, one against Luton and one against Hull before that game and two against Norwich before that game. Hardly off the boil

Look at his body language those last games. Yes he scored, but he hasn't seemed as happy as he was earlier in the season.

ideally we would keep Akpom and he would sign a new contract, however if a Prem team came in for him who would begrudge him the chance to play there? I could only see him leaving for the Prem team mind, and even with a year left on his contract he's gotta be worth £15m

We would be better off letting him run his contact down than selling him for 15mill as it would cost at least that to replace him and we wouldn't know for sure that the replacement would work in our side.

I'd say he hasn't looked right since the Luton match, personally I think he might be carrying an injury, he seemed to be less mobile and less physical.

Same thing as McNair when they scored yesterday, the play going on around him.
So McNair kept him under shackles for 270 minutes over 3 games but because they scored one goal he's terrible? You're an idiot if you're saying a defender is poor as soon as someone scores against them.

We had problems in the games against Coventry. McNair wasn't one of them.

And against a 47 yr old carthorse, just didn't have the pace to easily get past him. Looked very uncomfortable last night.....like he was playing injured......☹️
