There is talk on various platforms about civil disobedience..............

They aren't. That's probably the Tories greatest con trick isn't it? Engendering that kind of defeatist, beaten behaviour in people. It's patently not true. Is the Russian government the same as, say, the Norwegian government? Or the Japanese government
It maybe old but just to prove my point. I have no alliance to any party as I have stated. They will get away with it if they can and then plead ignorance. You should become an MP etc without extras, then we may see real people fighting for the Populus and not sheep and grunters that we hear in the HOC.

Eric Illsley

The former Barnsley Central MP had the dishonour of being the first MP to be convicted over the expenses scandal after he was handed a 12-month sentence for making false claims

In mid-2009 Mr Illsley was exposed by the Daily Telegraph for making so-called “phantom” claims for council tax on his expenses. Over a four-year period he claimed more than £10,000 from the taxpayer, despite the total bill for the property amounting to only £3,966.

He also made regular submissions for £200 expense claims which were just below the limit where he would have been required to file receipts.

He was imprisoned for three months before being released on an electronic tag, and going on to appear on BBC Newsnight just months after his release claiming his excess claims were "an allowance for living in London".

Thays fine mate. You just keep laughing at people trying to suggest ways to improve the country. I'm sure your sarcastic and cowardly comments will be well received this winter when people are dying of starvation. I'm sure you'll be proud then.

On the subject isn't it crazy how defenders of the Tory party think they can cover up a cabinet full of lies, corruption, autocratic Ower grabbing and utter contempt of the people by mentioning a single isolated event from over ten years ago.

It's like trying to defend Hitler by saying, yeah but he got the trains running smoothly

I really don't know WHAT YOU want. Change of Government is fine, however they are ALL THE SAME regardless, of party colour. They spend years undoing the previous Governments failings by creating their own. There is no Utopia Government while there is a trough to stick their own personal noses in for their own personal gain. I maybe wrong but I will wager all MP's get allowances for fuel and travel expenses along will a second home in or near the Capital etc. Show me a politician who is it for the people and NOT for themselves.
I agree a starmer led labour wont be much better. We need a radical change in politics ,to take on these global giant corporations and make them handover the profits they have stolen from ordinary citizens

Well get yer **** of here and become an politician. I have not really been sarcastic to you whatsoever, I just feel that you don't look at the bigger picture of what you are saying. I hate MP's and their like but it's what we have and have live by the laws of the land by people who govern us regardless how we feel or what we want. I have mentioned before in one of our many disagreements that if YOU personally hate this Country and all it stands for, there are plenty of boats leaving Dover for a brighter life in France with your militant buddies.

So people shouldn’t protest because the government will use it as an excuse to erode civil liberties and gain autocratic control? I’m afraid that’s already happening. If you can’t heat your house or buy food then you’re already in a perpetual “state of emergency”.
In your cloudburst, how many deaths from starvation and freezing are acceptable?
I didn't say people shouldn't protest I was saying that the government are agitating the situation deliberately so they can assert more control, they have no intention of solving the problem and deaths from starvation and in home hypothermia have become more prevalent since 2010.

I was on Anti-Austerity protests in 2011 and steadfastly believe that no person in this country should go hungry or be cold, perhaps my feelings have been fuelled by the continued decline of care despite trying for years to instigate change and reverse the situation, people, in general, act in self interest and politicians are expert in deceptive techniques.

Non payment of Poll Tax and the cost of collection and prosecution was as bigger driver in abandoning that policy than the demonstrations, people have every right to demonstrate I personally aren't sure if they make any actual difference, they can be counterproductive and manipulated to suit, I'm certain we're on the same side but I think our opinions on the best course of actions might be different.

You've made plenty of sarcastic comments. You do realise, don't you, that the current government is changing the "laws of the land" to give you even less power and patient itself from scrutiny. Ignorance of this fact doesn't mean you'll be immune to it all. That's fine though. You hate people in this country and don't care if they starve or freeze to death. That's your perogative. It's just it would be better if you didn't come on here with your snide sarcastic comments aimed at people who DO want to try and improve this country. You're the one who hates this country by arguing that it should be destroyed. I personally love the country which is why I think it's worth trying to save

I respect your view. I much prefer the French model where the government policy is shaped in the knowledge that the people will burn buildings down if the government tries to take the **** too much. We need violence and destruction to set that precedent in the UK. Our population is seen as weak and subservient across the rest of the world. Stiff upper lip and all that shyte.

As far as I'm aware Nobby didn't vote Tory. Or was it he didn't vote for Johnson but still ticked the box next to Conservative? I don't know.
But he's certainly no 'coward'.

Tell Small Town that, please.

Where was all of this objection when life was being made impossible by the tories for anyone claiming benefits over the last 12 years? Some of the most vulnerable have had their lives made a living hell by this government yet still got a 80 seat majority last election. It was inevitable that we would all end up in the same boat eventually, not sure how so many couldn’t see it.

So glad we didn’t vote in Corbyn to take us back to the 70s…..
Exactly and this is why I’m so loathe to let those who voted Tory ( at any election) willingly, as it isn’t just now they are shafting us they’ve been doing it for decades.

So that was ok then back on the good old days of gideon and call me Dave as you lot put these cretins in power.

And you’re going to put truss in power as well so thanks for that.

Obviously you don't know me at all and I personally don't know you. I spent 28 years serving my Queen and Country so while you slept safe in your freedom, I, my brothers and sisters in arms kept you safe and now YOU want to destroy that with riots and mayhem in an effort to IMPROVE this Country and at what cost, death, mayhem and destruction. I also spent 5 years in the Prison Service dealing with those you feel are the freedom Fighters you condone after the last civic disturbances. To say I hate this Country is a slur on my passion and my loyalty for this Country, how dare you!
I really do not want to see the likes of you and your idealistic mates ruining it for everyone. The Country is in a shoite state but to have running riots, which you seem to condone and feel is OK as a given right. But if you feel a change of Government is the answer, keep taking the Wobbly Eggs.
**I will end my participation on this thread as it's like talking to a child who cannot get their own way unless they smash something up in effort to gain attention**
Small Town=Small mind.

Yet you're happy to say I hate the country . Typical hypocrite.

It's fine, you want rhe current junta to stay in power. You what your human rights and democratic rights eroded. You don't care about people unable to heat their homes or feed their family. Thay kind of Tory selfishness is standard in this country now. I do care, and I hope we can do something about it.

Well said

Nah, I just live in the real world, are you seriously advocating civil unrest to topple the government ? Have you considered the implications that would have for all of us and our democracy ?

I don't think it would ever get that far. We need a mass movement to change policy, not topple anyone. Best case scenario would be a GE, middle ground would be real help for our fellow citizens, worst case would be us doing nothing whilst our fellow Brits starve and freeze to death in their homes whilst the rich keep getting richer.

When a Government fails to act public protest is part of a democracy. Just because the Tories want to stay in power for another 2 years doesn't mean we should listen. They can change the rules - so can we. ✊
