My son sent it to me & I thought I would struggle, didn't buy too many LP's, just singles & the odd combination, until I started jotting them down

Deceptive Bends - 10cc, my 1st LP I bought with my 1st working wage packet

Out of blue - ELO

The Undertones, their 1st LP

Paralel lines - Blondie

Human league - Dare

Pinky blue - Altered Images, mmmm Claire Grogan

Nat King Cole - The ultimate collection, not so much mine but off my mam

I'm not sure if I bought Slade & Sweet LP's or just their singles

As I posted I didn't by many, 10Cc wasn't my 1st, only 1st after leaving school in 77 but they were sort of special as I loved listening to those groups, especially Claire Grogan 💕

Plus I didn't get the NKC off my mam until she got a CD player & bought it on CD, I had a record player so I inherited the LP, I have the CD now I jeep in my car & play it still 👍

Mine are all still stacked up in the spare bedroom. Would have trouble picking out only 7 favourites but here goes off the top of my head the first that come to mind....

The Jam - Setting Sons
Kate Bush - Lionheart
Bowie - Hunky Dory
Cream - Best Of
Queen - A Day At The Races
Blondie - Parallel Lines
Beatles - (White Album)

Erimus; I saw 10cc on their Deceptive Bends tour in 1977 at Newcastle City Hall, their first tour without Godley and Creme. They were very good but were even better the following year, same venue, with the “Bloody Tourists” album tour.

Good album, Deceptive Bends. As well as the two main singles from the album I liked Modern Man Blues and the epic “Feel the Benefit”

I couldn’t place them in exact order of purchase but here are 7 of the first albums I bought.

Porcupine - Echo & the Bunnymen
Under A Blood Red Sky - U2
Head Over Heels - Cocteau Twins
New Gold Dream - Simple Minds
Rip It Up - Orange Juice
Quick Step & Side Kick - Thompson Twins
Power, Corruption & Lies - New Order

One of the most glorious things ever was slipping the sleek black vinyl out of a inner sleeve of a brand new record, de-dusting the needle and that anticipatory pause between the edge of the record and the first bar of music.

The technology of records still amazes me, how a few carefully cut grooves on a piece of plastic could become the intricate, rich, life changing music we hear is incredible, especially as the first ones are 130 years old.

And are you still wearing your frilly, white, blouson shirt, tartan trousers, and poncho combo ;)

Nick Cave - Boatman's Call
Nick Cave - No more shall we part

All in the last week to help a couple of my local indies out (y)

You wont be surprised to hear I bought 6 of those you listed myself, my favourite of them remains Parallel Lines, the only one I didn’t buy was The Undertones. I really like Nat King Cole too. One of my favourite songs is Unforgetable, but I love When I Fall In Love, Mona Lisa and Smile on that album especially. I often bought ‘the best of‘ albums. My favourite LP‘s (although in truth they are CD‘s) are Carry On Up The Charts by The Beautiful South and Wham’s Make It Big. My musical taste is eclectic though and I do love all sorts, Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, Billy Joel, Queen, Olivia , Kylie  modern stuff I like to listen to Zara Larsson, Dua Lipa, The Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit etc. There is little in the way of music I dismiss tbf, I know instantly if I will like a song or not, strangely

I too had Parallel Lines by Blondie!

The first Clash album (HMV store in Eldon Square) - still like this one
Never Mind the B******* (Portuguese import from a mail order dealer in NME it was cheaper than buying on the High Street)
Drastic Plastic by Mott the Hoople (reduced in Boots cellar in the Boro)
Bowie Greatest Hits (upstairs in Binns)
- still like this one
When I was around 14 all I could really afford were 50p KTEL LPs so I bought the Ripoffs play the Beatles when I really wanted to buy the real thing which was about £4 - Music was expensive in those days unless you pirates stuff by putting it onto cassette.

When I got a student grant I thought I was a millionaire - I had around £10 a week disposable income (about £60 in todays money) so I would go down to a second hand record stall in the new Hill Street Centre and buy some good second hand stuff both singles and LPs - lots of Jam, Buzzcocks

As a student I remember buying the Beatles compilation albums new and Now1 LP. (inc Nina and her 99 Red Balloons)
