The word "tosser"

What about being called a non-entity?

Obviously this thread is directed at me following a report from another poster who loves giving it but then whines to admin when he gets given it back to him.

He also asks admin to ban me. A bit like one of those latin 1990s footballers waving an imaginary yellow card in the direction of the referee.

So a message to him. Basically, stop being a massive fanny.
What about calling someone a fanny ?

We've all been known to toss something every now and again, I'm sure. I've definitely tossed, I'm not ashamed to admit it. Love a pancake me.

The word is common parlance in the world of Tiddlywinks. Indeed a good tosser is a term of praise and is better than being called a huge winker.

How about these insults instead?
All Hat and No Cattle - A man who is all talk and no action.
Chuckle Head- A person who shows stupidity and weakness of intellect; a fool.
Fribble
A trifler, idler, good-for-nothing fellow; silly and superficial.
Fussbudget
A nervous, fidgety person.
Unlicked Cub
A loutish youth who has never been taught manners.
Word Grubbers
Verbal critics; and also, persons who use hard words in common discourse.
Wrinkler
A person prone to lying.
Or my favourite insult of all time "A silly Sausage".

It’s an interesting discussion , how to use insults ( is there any need at all ?) especially when there is a profanity filter built in.. leads to some creative use of words and characters.. for what it is worth I think “Bellwhiff” is right up there . The fact that it can be used in verb form - as in “he’s committed an act of bellwhiffery there” - makes it especially useful as an alternative to silly sausage for example . Even if people haven’t heard the word Bellwhiff before , they quickly understand and usually smile.

For clarity’s sake, “bellwhiffery” is an abstract noun in your sentence, and “committed” is the verb.

That’s right, I’m a linguistics tosser.

Ha ha , but seeing it is describing the act of bellwhiffery ( whatever that may be as it has a million uses ) it becomes a doing word ” to bellwhiff” … that must give it some verb credentials surely, perhaps it’s all in the context … it’s an outstanding word and a great descriptor ( does that make it an adjective too ?) .

It works in fun and in the pejorative I tend to find

We've had countless reports over the last few weeks, basically saying " he called me a tosser".

Ok. Nobody wants to be called a tosser. So, please stop.

Also, you know, we are busy people so, don't bother us with trivia. "he called me a serial child molester" yes, we'll act. But... oh ffs, you get the picture

It was a bit more nuanced than that

My point was if you constantly try to stop debate and silence people and when that doesn’t work resort to calling people tossers then it’s actually controlling behaviour

🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway it’s mother’s day so I’ll leave you all in peace ✌️
