The Weekend Beer & Music Thread

Afternoon folks, hope it's been a good week for all. Three points against Watford last week were very welcome, especially after the disappointment of the Mackem game. Great performance and a well deserved three points plus the subsequent additions of both Dan Barlaser and Aaron Ramsay should hopefully help us stay very much in the play off picture at least for the rest of the season. Three points at home to Blackpool tomorrow would be a great way to cement ourselves in there.

Anyhoooo... It's the weekend or just about anyway, so get us started I can recommend a fantastic local porter if you're into that stuff. It's a very, very nice drink and on the rare occasion I see it on tap I always indulge in a pint. I give you the very lovely Ouseburn Porter.

As we're playing Blackpool tomorrow I thought I'd stick a track from The Cure on to get us underway given that Robert Smith was born there. For a double whammy, it's Friday and I'm in love (with Michael Carrick, but don't tell the Mrs!!!)

Happy weekend folks.

A few weeks ago I was at a wake talking to a guy about my upcoming Cure gig and he told me he was the bloke in this video who swept the stage with a sweeping brush, so I shook his hand.

Speaking of Eurovision, please Germany choose this...
Oh and I'm on the rum and cokes now :D
I put this on the new music thread before Christmas. German selection show 3/3 get your German friend to vote for it. Reading the comments on YouTube very popular all over Europe

Bristol City away is looking very possible BobbyG, good little away trip too.

Mrs WG has some Gingerbread gin that she got as a gift recently and so I think we're going to try a little tipple of that.

However, spirit drinking is generally alien to me and so what is the best way to have these flavoured gins? Mixed with lemonade? Cheers.
Lemonade!! Bloody hell WG you need to getout of Northumberland and back to civilisation. Fever Tree tonic is your friend here, not a particularly flavoured one because there’s lots of flavour in that gin, try maybe a Mediterranean ‘refreshingly light’ one, very mild and won’t overpower the gin.

Dont buy Schwepes tonic it’s pish and tastes awful, will spoil the gin. If you’re drinking ‘normal‘ gin, say tanqurey or Gordon’s then a flavoured fever tree will work. Enjoy.

Thanks @Ingleby_Flash, we tried it with lemonade and it tasted awful. We tried it neat and it was awful too, will try some tonic water next time and third time lucky it might hopefully be a little more palatable.

Wise words. I've just discovered Monkey 47 gin, my new favourite.

I went to an Independent Music Venue event at The Windmill in Brixton, with a few bands on. These stole the show.
