The weekend beer and music thread

No music for me yet. Just finished watching the lasses football - a glorious display of crap defending and comedy goalkeeping - just like watching Boro really with the only real difference being that the lasses know how to score goals.

Seeing as I'm normally amongst friends on this thread I'm happy to announce that admin has kindly allowed me to change my username to one resembling the one I'd used for years up until about 18 months ago.

Drinking a lovely St Feuillien Brune and listening to the fabulous New Order.

Afternoon folks, another week is drawing to a close and it's time for the regular thread again. Great midweek performance and result against Sheff Utd and a very welcome 3 points. I feel if things clicked and we became more clinicial in front of goal that we'd genuinely be a match for anyone in the league. I think we can all see we have the basis of an excellent squad for this level but we just need things to drop into place. Norwich is always a tricky place to go and it'll be another very difficult game on Sunday. That said, I think Norwich may play more on the front foot than most teams we've faced and that could work to our advantage. Fingers crossed to another 3 points on Sunday ideally with a 2 or 3 goals to boot.

I still won't be drinking alcohol tonight or any time soon for that matter, but I've rediscovered a love of diluatble Ribena so keeping myself hydrated with that and alternate drinks of water plus the odd cuppa. Still not in a great place and the recovery will be slow but I'm getting there. Comparatively, I'm already light years ahead of where I was this time last week and so feeling very, very grateful for that.

Anyhow, without further ado here's a song to kick us off...

You forgot to mention that you're also a year older this weekend.

I love this version; hammered, hung over, off key and Barney in a foul mood. Morris outstanding on drums.

Very best to you WG. Tonight we're staying in the motorhome in North Yorkshire, ready to walk my younger daughter down the aisle tomorrow and ferry them in the back, between venues. Currently quaffing a very nice jammy red. And seeing as this is their song it'd be a sin not to play it now ...

Hope tomorrow is fantastic and memorable. Good luck and all the best.

Get well soon mate. I didn’t know you were unwell either and trying to manage everything alongside illness is hard.
Be sure to cut yourself some slack and rest up if you need to.

I'm hungover this morning with the mixture of drinks I had last night and I am paying for it this morning. ;)

I received a text and e-mail from DPD this morning stating my new music system is arriving today and I am looking forward to it. I've been busy in my workshop making a consul and are halfway through that. The base is all made up, all the panels are glued up, cut to size and ready to go together. Isn't funny how something new can make you excited. ;)

I will have the turntable, CD player and amplifier set up this afternoon. The family have bought me a few pieces of vinyl recently and I will be giving them a little airing.

Mine are nowhere near the price of some of your items but it will suit my boilermaker's ears and budget down to the ground. Richer Sounds recommended the following to me when I went in before the summer. I ordered it mid-September and it's all just came into stock. They said it was the speakers delaying the delivery.

I just got excited there as a DPD van pulled up outside the house and thought it had all come early. It was another courier delivering the speaker cable. It seems daft that the same courier have items to be delivered here on two different vans.
