The weekend beer and music thread

Evening folks, it's been a long week so hope you're all looking forward to the weekend as much as I am. About to make myself a home made curry and sit and watch the England game with a couple of beers so hopefully we give Malta a good thrashing and the Italians come unstuck in North Macedonia. Won't be more than a couple though as meeting up with some friends for the first time in a while tomorrow so no doubt have a few more then. Anyhow, a decent pint I always enjoy is Atlantic Pale Ale - might not be everybody's cup of tea so to speak but I find it a nice alternative to Punk IPA.

To kick us off with a tune, you can never really go wrong with the Levellers so here we go...

Won't be bothering with the football. Can't stand all these international breaks. Everything stops just so that England can thrash a couple of minnows 10-0. Ridiculous.

It was The Teardrop Explodes last weekend so it has to be a bit of Wylie now and then it'll probably be a bit of Echo and the Bunnymen later.

Enjoy your weekend, fellas.

Evening, just back from a few days in the lakes, whether was decent enough. Just opened a bottle of my favourite Sauvignon Blanc (Oyster Bay)
Mrs F is away this weekend so I’m going to dig in and try to get through to the end of my Day Skipper theory course, so there’s only one song to post. If you’ve never heard this before give it a listen - awesome.

Prompted by something in my socials, I decided to revisit this album ... which was always a favourite. Their two appearances at the Rock Garden are still firmly etched into my memory as about the most intense and visceral I have ever seen. Despite their menace, they were lovely blokes. And the late Jackie Leven remains one of our greatest songwriters. The songs that I usually find myself singing forty years on are Stripshow and Hey Sweetheart. But listening to this epic again, I was reminded that there wasn't another band like them, before or since. The wine was an absolute steal from M&S... clearance price £6 (£4.80 with my discount). Belter.
