Circa 800 tickets still available online - wonder if prices will drop in the next few days like the Nick Cave show or if they will hold their nerve and maintain the original price?

Loved the Waterboys back in the 80’s - saw them first in 1984. This is the Sea is still one of my favourite albums.

Was considering going but not at the original price. Will see if the prices come down.

I’m going. Like Nick Cave it is pricey and in future I probably won’t pay these prices now far greater value for money is available at smaller venues for up and coming bands, but having been deprived of live music so long, I’ve felt like treating myself.

Great gig, surprised at how good they were , especially the fiddle player . Full downstairs but lots of empty seats upstairs sadly.
Would have sold out at 25

When I looked at tea time there were lots of seats available downstairs. I've seen posts where people have said that upstairs was practically empty despite tickets up there having been sold.

Perhaps, I'm speculating, some lucky people who had bought tickets upstairs were redirected downstairs?

Not sure but no one checked tickets for downstairs, so in theory you could have moved downstairs, don't think they was a massive difference in price though

They were superb.

Having not seen them before and having been to three festivals and some small bands recently which were ridiculous value for money, I half thought I might feel they were overpriced. Totally worth the £40 I paid.

Brilliant musicians. Scott and Whickham were superb, but I was blown away by Brother Paul Brown, the keyboard/organ player from Memphis.

I saw them at Newcastle City Hall in 89 and came away disappointed as I wanted Pagan Place and This is the Sea but of course they were very much Fisherman's Blues in 89.

Now I like both equally so last night was perfect.

I was scratching my head how long it had taken me to see them, considering how much I loved This Is The Sea and even quite liked their more folky stuff. Loved their versions of everything last night, but I think my favourite track was actually the fairly recent one, 'Nashville, Tenessee'.

Saw them at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1986 supporting Simple Minds. The Cult played also.

There and back same/next day on the bus.

Those were the days 🤣

They missed a few out that especially my daughter was hoping for but I really liked the newish stuff, like you lefty I was reluctant paying the money after kubix, twistarella and Paul Heaton on the Monday but really glad I went.

I got offered free tickets but had made other plans so couldn’t go.

Last saw them in the 80’s - first time around the time of the Pagan Place album and second time on the Fisherman’s Blues Tour at the City Hall.

Not a fan of much of the newer stuff (well anything from 2000 onwards) but the early stuff I love. Did they play much from Pagan Place/This is the Sea/Fisherman’s Blues?

You weren't on the bus tour from Cleveland centre to Newcastle were you.I always remember the bus driver having a very strict conversation with one bloke telling him he was jot waiting for him if he went to try and get autographs at stage door.

I think I probably was - did a lot of those trips around that time. Wasn't me who asked for the autographs though.

Remember seeing REM on the Green Tour in 89 and getting back on the bus to find out that Arsenal had won the league at Anfield.

Just remembered I saw Mike Scott at the Coatham Bowl too and we were all searched on the way out as someone had been back stage and nicked a pair of his leather trousers! Not guilty, your honour.
