Thought they were a very good side before hand. Now I know it 😂. They have given every one of the so called big 6 a game this season.

The gulf is class was so noticeable

Oh well. I guess we don't have to worry about replays and cup conjestion. Oh and the Watford game will be on FA cup weekend. Small bonus.

**** knows what has happened to him, felt like we could get £10m for him the last couple seasons, not sure we'd get £10 now.

Well below par today, but its best put behind us. Carrick will have learnt a bit more about some of his players.

We may have played against "better" PL teams, but not many with the attitude and focus Brighton showed today.

I would rather have played Man City today than Brighton.
 
They gave us a bit of a lesson today. Showed up our limitations.

IF we go up, clearly Steffen, Smith, McNair, Howson, Forss, Jones, Mowatt, McGree and Crooks are nowhere near prem quality.

But they're decent in the championship and half of them aren't even contracted to us next year anyway.

We couldn't get tight to them in midfield or pressure them high at all. We struggled to contain their press. They had pace all over the pitch and we didn't have the players to handle that. BUT, we are a work in progress, whereas this Brighton team is the finished article at it's peak. So lets not beat ourselves up too much. This game was a distraction, and hopefully the players and Carrick can shake this off before a much more important game next week
 
They were really good, in form and full of confidence.

Painful to see us struggle to win and then keep, the ball.

I guess Brighton have come a long way since that promotion decider.

No shame, but that was comprehensive.
 
Positives from today:

Akpom kept his scoring up( and against Premiership)
Crooks in patches showed some promising touches for a forward position.
Carrick plays to win no matter what( which is a positive for me), it didn't work today but with better players, who knows?

Negative
It's been the same for me all season Burnely and Brighton have show it up - our defensive frailties, maybe I go back on saying McNair would be a plus but even with Lenihan in we have been shown up on several occasions this season, and the frailties feels more than just the defensive personnel it feels like midfield being part of it as well.

It was virtually a full side they put out. They have all played in the PL with exception of Steele. And their bench looked great. A World Cup winner to waltz on.
 
Some things I am sure Carrick will note steffan showed today hes miles away from being a premier league keeper. McNair hasn't a future at the club he is absolutely dire. Jones for the about the fifth game running can't get upto the speed of the game from sub
We also need much more cover in midfield hackney and howson can't be expected to play well all season
 
It's the best Brighton have ever been and maybe will be

We beat man city 8-1 not so many moons ago

Football works in cycles - more so now if you get promoted and stay up and invest in younger technical players

We absolutely blew it when we went up

There is a reason we have been in the championship for 14 of the last 15 seasons, were not a particulally good team

Exactly this. Take it as a huge learning experience for the Club and a sharp reminder to the fans that we are not walking to promotion. Look at Burnley today. Smashed Bournemouth with their two class players scoring a brace each.

I think Jones let the ball roll out of play under his foot for the fifth game in a row too.

Powder puff midfield, tidy but weak, need to find and spend big on a destroyer with class for howson, it would transform our team and stop us relying on the defence to win the ball back as that is how it has been for a long time now

That just shows you how poor we have been ran for the last 6 years tbh
 
Should act as an encouragement, shows what you can do with the right Management and excellent recruitment.
We need to learn from this, bring the players down to earth and fight tooth and nail to beat Millwall nest week which is a much more important game for us.
Let's bounce back with a bang.

Got a good spanking, not the end of the world though. Will hopefullt make players fully focused against Millwall.

McNair is *****, If Clarke is crocked then I hope to god Lenihan is ok for next week. Both full backs are weak against better opposition, will do this season though. Minutes will have done Archer no harm as he will be lacking match fitness.

My daughter just asked if I enjoyed the footie. I said no, we got beat 5-1. She said its not the end of the world too. Then I showed her the stats and she laughed at me and said, you got more corners though. Oh dad, whats a corner? Then started laughing at me again. She is grounded until 2030, that'll learn her.
