* The unofficial "Hurrah for The Red Shirts". Boro v Cardiff City [04/24] Match Day thread *

Sorry but II thought Barlaser gave the ball away multiple times in dangerous positions today and a better team may well have punished them.
His overall game is generally good but still manages to give opposition far too many opportunities for my liking.
Nice lad I am sure but not good enough for us and where we expect to be.
Essential we improve in this position for next season, Happy with Howson and Hackney there and possibly McCabe after his cameo today but 1 other needed and first position to fill for me.
I.M.O. Of course
I'm concerned that Dieng doesn't fully comprehend the tactics Michael Carrick employs, in terms of pulling opposing forwards towards our area, thus releasing space behind for our players to run into.

He just doesn't have the quick-acting forward-thinking football brain required to be an all-round quality keeper: the number of times he panics and passes the ball in dangerous positions straight to opponents and allows them to score, is unacceptable. You can coach an average player as much as you want, but you won't turn an average Championship player into a quality Premiership player - if they haven't got the right talent and mentality.

Good saves are not the only tools in a quality goalie’s repertoire. If we go up next season, he's not the player we could expect to perform in the Premiership.

Dieng 6.5 - couple of really good saves including a worldie and an absolute clanger with his feet

Ayling 7 - waltzed through the game really
Tav 7 - barely troubled him
Clarke 9 - battled with Djediou well, passed the ball quickly and scored a good goal
Thomas 7 - was left one on one too often first half but stood up well
Howson 6 - looked his age today
Barlaser 6.5 - played well second half after an error strewn first half
Jones 6 - quiet day
Gilbert 8 - showed real moments of quality, great finish
Azaz 9 - 2 assists and a goal, what more do
You want from an attacking player
Lath 8 - a handful all day and deserved his goal, thumped it in

McCabe 7 - didn’t look out of place
Other subs not really involved enough to rate

Azaz, Gilbert an Latte Lath.
None of us really knew anything about any of them at the start of the season, just shows how much they`ve come on. Azaz has done well in his short time here. Gilbert has burst onto the pitch after being in the shadows and Latte Lath is a revelation after his comeback from injury (y)

I'm sending you all to a specific version of hell where you've got to watch videos of us under Tony Pulis. All day, every day.🤪

One more time -if you continually lose the ball by hoofing it, you'll score less and concede more.

Saying that we do need to improve and know when to mix it up a bit.
Boll*cks, you need to send Deing to Specsavers, he clearly only has partial vision and no amount of BS about retaining possession negates the stupidity of his actions.

Dieng is better than Randolph for me too.

Makes just as good, if not better, saves and is better with his feet and distribution.

I was a huge fan of Randolph too.
