The traditional pre World Cup injury scare

It seems to have been a tradition for years now that a key member of the squad picks up an injury and we all spend the next few weeks praying they recover in time.

Robbo shoulder
Beckhsm metatarsal
Rooney foot
Kane foot

Hopefully not this year.

Are we really looking forward to watching this World Cup with the same enthusiasm and anticipation. Qatar? It’s going to be sh1t isn’t it?
I was there in jan and aside from all the building projects you honestly you wouldn’t even know there was a World Cup coming this year let alone knd in their country.

I couldn’t even buy a t shirt or a pen.

Admittedly Covid rules were stricter then but it didn’t feel like the world was about to arrive.

It will always have a feeling of how did they get this but I think once it all starts and we kick off v Iran it will change and we’ll be in World Cup mode.

Maybe.

Listening to someone on the radio from England Supporters and he was saying that most hotels and bars won't even be showing any of the games and the price of a pint is around £15!

Probably more now the pound has sunk against the riyal - this will be the least people’s World Cup of all. I was lucky enough to go to France, Germany and Italy for World Cup tournaments and they were great. This one I couldn’t care less about

Yes. They were the best of times to support England on the road.

We were only there for the day but it’s a relatively small city area so the big issue is so many rival fans in basically one square area together the old town is nice but again is small.

From what I read rival fans are going to be in "camps" where plenty of food and beer will be on offer. Like a load of fanzones. They wont be encouraged to mix although of course ultimately they wont be able to prevent travel around but you will be reliant on buses and taxis as these camps will be away from the urban areas.

It’s impossible not to though as there won’t be 32 camps I’ll tell you now as the place isn’t big enough.

Even those not going to Qatar with have a very difference world cup experience. To me the WC means beer gardens, sunny days outside, TV pictures from fan parks etc - that's going to be fun in November in the UK !

I'm looking forward to watching USA v's Eng in a bar in NYC but other than that, meh.
