I've had a nightmare with top scorers - Benzema injured before the tournament started, Neymar missed two group games and has departed the tournament and Martinez, well...Martinez.

Argentina my last remaining hope for some prediction glory :)

I'm surprised you're claiming Brazil as the biggest underachievers when of the only 3 teams you thought were capable of winning it, one didn't get through the groups, one went out a round earlier than Brazil and the other in the same round as them.
Surely in your eyes Germany were the underachievers?

Well I suppose there's more than one underachiever.

I actually predicted Spain would win it at first, so maybe its them. But Brazil underachieved too to a very large extent, they were the bookies' pre-tournament favourites (always are and without good reason imho) but I guessed that better than who would win it.

This is now Brazil's joint longest stint without winning it.

1930-1958 = 28 years

2002-2022 = 20 years

In terms of world cup tournaments you are right - not years.

Haha. Was going on time so far as you were talking time. And you said "stint" originally which means time not tournaments doesn't it? 2002-26 still shorter! I also acknowledged the no of tournaments mind and obviously was aware there weren't any in 1942 and 46
