Not bad :)
Maybe on a world level, however in this country I think we are getting better at producing players who express themselves more. Traditionally we've coached skill out of kids by demanding they pass and encouraging a more physical game. However, coaches at grass roots level and academies are encouraged to let players express themselves a bit more and not be so harsh on kids for losing the ball and discouraging them to try and beat men. I think you can see over the last few years we have seen more skillful players come through the English youth systems. Decision making can be developed as kids get older but raw talent and flair is very difficult to develop at an older age. Those skills are better learned at a young age.Didn't we bid £10mil for him under Southgate?
Fantastic player. Absolute natural.
Not to derail but In some football circles I'm seeing an argument that such pure "talent" football characters are being bred out of the game now. Every player has to rigidly be an athlete, tactics are stuck to. Almost roboticly. The likes of ronaldimho, le tissier etc wouldn't get a game
Foden is the best example going , of " no natural athletic attributes" He can just " play "Maybe on a world level, however in this country I think we are getting better at producing players who express themselves more. Players like Foden and Bellingham are prime examples.
I think we have some good technical players these days but it's not the same sort of technique the Brazilians are famous for. The Brazilians have a lot more flair. That ball on a string type of close control with flicks and tricks which bamboozles defenders where our dribblers are more give a defender a chance to commit before knocking it past them.Maybe on a world level, however in this country I think we are getting better at producing players who express themselves more.
