The Silver Goal and Golden Goal rules

Yeah, such a bad rule - designed to make teams attack, actually made them both hyper defensive because one goal knocks you out. Some of those extra times during golden goal were literally like two boxers standing on opposite sides of the ring.

I love extra time though, I’d never change that. You do usually get one team who are happy to play for pens but with the players more tired it opens up a lot more.

The Brazil v Croatia ET was ok.

Classic Extra Time games

England v West Germany 1966
Man United v Benfica 1968
Italy v Germany 1970 World Cup Semi final.
France v Germany 1982 World Cup Semi.
What about Boro's FA Cup semi-final against Chesterfield, the League Cup semi-final against Man U at Old Trafford, Boro's quarter-final against Wolves, England's semi-final in the 1990 World Cup - I dare say if I really thought about it I could name more.

Aye there are obviously others but the ones I listed were true classic extra times. I was at that semi in Turin in 1990. Apart from Waddle hitting the post and Gazza getting booked it wasn't a classic extra time. I'd rather forget about the extra time against Wolves thank you. They scored two goals and we couldn't respond.
