The ruination of my marriage. Or how I delved back into Football Manager 2020.

Championship Manager 01/02 is where it’s at! Still the best version ever and still have a game now and again.

To Madeira on the original data and Anastasios Skalidis on the update regularly score 70 or 80 goals a season and have had them in triple figures before!

With this imminent lockdown I might start a game and make Boro a dominant force yet again.

Ayala left of a back 3, McNair left wingback.

square pegs round holes.

I’ll give you 10 games and the axe will be wielded.

Ive got CM 03/04 on the pc, the mighty Boro have won the league, CL and Club World Cup 18 years in a row.
I have honestly never understood how you get so good at the game. I played it non-stop in the 90s but even I struggled to achieve things like that. I mean won the league with Barcelona and stuff. Remember a very fruitful spell I once had managing Rangers too. 'We' won the SPL a fair few times in a row, domestic cups galore, and made reasonable progress in the CL!

So, for Subbuteo, here is the summary after 8 games.

Smogs find themselves in 8th place after some frustrating late equalisers and a surprise defeat to Bristol City. The coaching is starting to pay off and them team is bonding well.

Results of the first 10 games.

An unfortunate exit to Peterborough aside, Boro are doing OK and flummoxing the analsyts who had us down as relegation cannon fodder. The combinations of Bola/Spence as roving wingbacks has paid dividends and wing play has brought about the large majority of the goals. Managing the training has resulted in a 20% reduction in injuries compared to last year.

In terms of transfer, only 1 permanent addition. Antonito from Valladolid as cover for Spence.

Marvin Johnson was upset that I didn't accept a zero offer from MK Dons and has been in a hissy fit ever since. He's been transfer listed at 400K. First to see will buy :)

Ashley Fletcher has been the standout attacker in the early part of the season. 6 goals in 8 appearances, with 4 MotM awards at an average rating of 7.54. His partnership with Gestede works very well, but its unlikely to continue beyond the end of the season as Rudi's contract is up.

Up until the next transfer window, plans are to consolidate and push for the playoffs.

I've neen on Championship Manager 01/02 for a few weeks starting with our squad from then. My plan was to try and get our 2004 squad together. But wow : Mendieta, Viduka, Hasslebainnk, they were some players. Got Mills but he jumped ship to Chealsea. Zenden has signed and is immediately better than alright.

In my ongoing game I am manager of Djurgardens having led Stenhousemuir to the championship.
I noticed Aitor Karanka was out of work so put in a cheeky contract offer and he is now my under 19s coach.

Already dropping below the 2 points a game minimum, there will be a yes or no thread soon and I think you know what I'm talking about

I have my eye on a surprise addition, but he's not available right now. Playing a long game, Keane is on borrowed time.

You see that just shows why you're not fit to be a manager of this great club - announce one thing and then don't follow through with it.

Weak leadership - Pulis would have had him out the door within hours.

Gibson get Jarse Out - I'm not stepping foot into the Riverside until he's gone.

Haven't played Footy Manager properly for about ten years. I thought it became a bit too messy with squad social morale and stupid Press Conferences.

This thread is making me what to get involved again though,

Boooooooooo!

Sack him now Gibbo. Save the season.

An update as we come to the end of October. The team are starting to gel and are in good form, the latest of which was a 4-0 win against high flying Fulham in 3rd place. Fletcher and Nmecha competing for who could grab the hat trick first.

Boro currently 6th in the table, 5 points behind the hallowed 2 points per game and 11 points behind leaders Leeds.
