The ruination of my marriage. Or how I delved back into Football Manager 2020.

**Apologies for the delay in updates, I had a corrupt save, so a lot of data I was going to put in here has been lost. What you see is what I could recover and a lot is from memory. I'm two seasons ahead of where this now is**

So, we get to January 2024. Boro are sitting pretty at the top of the table but with some injuries that have forced Hew back into the transfer market.

Willem Vandewalle £2.7m from Club Brugge. One for the future. He'll be sent out on loan for match fitness. The scouts expect him to be a good Premier League player in a few years as support for the main Advanced Forward.

Ahmed Obi £20m from Porto. A solid defender with plenty of scope for improvement. Plays very similar to Vincent Kompany, tough tackling and no nonsense.

Marius Lelong £23m from Standard. Straight into the first team and looks as if he's always played there. Marius gave Hew what he was looking for which was overlapping wing play. Is expected to contribute to a lot of headed goals.

Thomas Bagger £10m from FC Midtyjlland. Another no nonsense centreback to play alongside big Harold.

In terms of outgoings, Birgir Melling was the only player of note to leave, sold to Jiangsu for £13.5m, which was a good deal considering he was 29 and only signed for £6m. Was wanting ridiculous contract terms to stay. Djed Spence was also released on a free for not developing as much as the coaching staff had hoped.

Speaking of the coaching staff, no more changes made mid season, but Hew is looking for an attacking technical coach to improve player movement in the final third.

Boro remain in all the cup competitions and in Europe.

End of season update coming soon......

OK, so apologies for the long delays in updating. I lost the save game and had to recover it from a cloud backup. I've lost a lot of the screenshots I had saved for this so I will have to just give a summary and show you where we are now.

Its been an eventful couple of season for Boro. Having managed to emulate the great 2003 Arsenal side by going unbeaten an entire season and setting a new points total record in the PL of 106 and the most wins in a season at 32, they are now 3 times Premier League winners and two times Champions Cup winners. Boro's stature has massively increased and they are now one of the top 10 clubs in world football. Hew Jarse has been inducted into the hall of fame.

In terms of the staff,. Boro now has the most efficient coaching and medical teams team in the Premier League, and the second highest recruitment team with scouts all over the world.

The squad continues to evolve and is concentrated around a core of young players rejected by other world clubs, trained and nurtured into world beaters. One of the boards aims is to develop young players and then around the age of 27/28/ sell them on and recoup the investment. This is starting to show dividends with a core group of academy players forcing Hew's hand into giving them first team action. The squad is generally quite close. One of the recent additions, Javier Nunez seems to have a party animal inside him and has missed training 11 times in his first season due to being out the night before. Hew is going to have his hands full with that guy. Howver, the ex Barcelona La Masia graduate has a hell of an eye for goal.

Other recent additions include Thomas Buchele who has replaced Big Harold who moved on to Derby for £22.5m at the age of 29 after 7 great season as a stalwart of the Boro defence. Lewis Wing was released on a free after a loan season with Sevilla failed to result in a bid. James Garner, the Man Utd loanee who played for Boro for 2 seasons has been signed on a permanent deal to replace Wing. The most extravagant purchase was needed for left wing back. In cometh Ben Hur.

Three players who are being prepped for the step up to the first team are

Jamie McDermott, a pressing forward

Liam Curran, a ball winning midfielder in the guise of Adam Clayton. Aggressive as hell and like a pit bull at the butchers.

Leo Coton, another midfielder who offers creativity to staunch Liam Curran's outright hostility to other players :)

A new stadium is in progress and has been delayed twice but should be open before Christmas. Finances are in a good state

And the board seem pleased.

Onward and upwards.

9 months since the last update and a lot has changed. Hew is getting ready to hang up his boots after 11 Champions League wins across a 32 year career, 17 time Premier League champions and a multitude of FA Cups and Club World cups. The only blemish in his staggering record is that he had terrible stats in the Carabao Cup. Seemed to be his nemesis.

There is a well respected manager having just taken over at Darlington and is promising to do to them what Jarse did with the Boro. Say hello to Mr. F. Magnet.
